Ty frowns, looking confused, “No, it doesn’t. In fact, it’s a direct contrast to how we know him to be.” His gaze lands on me, “He has, however, said that he won’t say anything else until he sees you.”
I swallow thickly, “Can I have a little time? I know it’s important that we figure out what he knows and how he can help, if he is even willing to help with the Blue Fucker, but I just need a little time. I promise I won’t take too long.”
Ty nods, “Yes, of course. He’s already told us a lot, but he said if we wanted to know about HID, he needed to talk to you first.”
I nod. But I don’t say anything, and Ty picks the conversation back up again.
If I’m being honest, I haven’t wrapped my head around the fact that he actually helped me and didn’t curse me out at the Choosing. My eyes meet Coen’s, and he nods. After the meeting, we need to talk about Dimitri. I can’t just keep burying it because Dimitri makes me feel things that I shouldn’t feel for someone who hurt me like he did.
I take a deep breath. I have the rest of the meeting to get my shit together.
“I think that’s all the major updates,” Ty says. “Oh, Neith, your class signup sheet is about six pages long, so we’re going to have to rotate classes.”
My eyes widen, “What?”
“Six pages?” Reed asks, his eyebrows raised.
“Yeah, they all love her, and after she did so well in Griff’s flight class and then fought Coen, who has a reputation among the students, they all want to be taught by her,” Ty explains. Chuckling, he adds, “I have had to close down the sign-up sheets, too many people wanted to be a part of your classes, and there was no way that you were going to have the time to do them all. You would have had to become a full-time teacher.”
I laugh, “They realize that the whole teaching thing is new to me and could just be a massive clusterfuck?”
Ty grins, “I don’t think they care much. Reed, you have a sign-up sheet as well, it’s not as long as Neith’s, but there are quite a few students who want a class from you.”
I glance over at Reed with a smile. He hasn’t ever had a class at the Training Academy because of who he is and how strong he is. Because of how strong he is, everybody has been too scared to have a lesson with him.
His eyebrows are high on his forehead in his surprise, “With me?”
Ty nods, “Yes. I think it helps that they’ve seen Neith interact with you the way that she has and that you have relaxed a bit,” Ty grins. “The smiling has helped.”
“That’s good,” Doc grins.
Ty smiles and then asks, “Okay, what was the thing that you needed to talk to me about regarding the wolves?”
Evander’s expression becomes serious, and he quickly explains the situation with the wolves and the sales.
Ty’s expression gets darker the more that Evander explains.
“We were aware that there was something like that going on,” Ty says. “We’ve actually been looking into the sales for a while now.”
I’m actually unsurprised that he already knows about it. It would be weirder if he didn’t. It’s been going on for so long. Rana was in it for over twenty years, and she can’t have been the first.
“Do you have any leads?” Griff asks.
Ty shakes his head, “No. We kept hitting dead end after dead end. We would start to follow a really promising lead, feel like we were getting close, and then the whole place would just vanish, no sign and not a trace of it left behind.”
“Portal?” I ask. “There are some that can leave no trace behind.”
Ty nods, “Yeah, that was our conclusion. We’ve kept our ears to the ground, and we investigate whenever we get wind of it popping up again, but it always slips through our fingers. We’ve never had enough evidence or leads to get to it in time before it disappears to its new location again. We always find the location too late.”
“Well, Rana was in there from when she was a child until she was around thirty, and Derek bought her, so she knows a lot. Hopefully, she will be able to give us some more leads and a way to track them,” Raiden explains.
“Are you sure that you want to take this case?” Ty asks. “It’s not an easy one. You’re going to need to take the lead of quite a few teams, if you do manage to locate it. Not only that, but if you were to just focus on the Blue Fucker case, then you would probably have a while longer to rest before another lead comes up.”
Van nods, “All very good points. But this one is important to us. Rana has been through a lot, and I’m not sure how well she would handle being asked questions and working with another team, and we want to dismantle the place before it can do any more damage than it already has.”
“We’re going to need teams ready to go through their records and find all of the wolves that have been sold so that they can be freed, and the people that bought them can be charged,” Ransom adds thoughtfully. “Are we even sure that they only deal in wolves?”
Ty nods, “There have been rumors that there are more species, but the only ones that we have been able to confirm are definitely there, are the wolves. I will start putting together teams that will be perfect for the information gathering. I will also make sure that we have enough teams to back you up when you need them. Obviously, you have SID at your disposal, so if you need anything, let me know.”
