Athisoffice.

I let go of Evan and pull in a breath. I wet my lips, step back, and smooth my hands over my clothes.

Christopher gives me a wicked grin.

Evan chuckles. “That was mean,” he tells his new boyfriend.

“I know. But she’s going to have to act pissed at me, or at least cold toward me, at the office.” Christopher gives my ass a little slap, then moves off toward the coffee pot. “I need to know that she’s thinking of therealheat the whole time.”

Evan grins down at me. “Are you going to be able to pull off acting pissed at him for stealing your boyfriend now?”

I take a deep breath. “I really don’t know,” I tell him honestly. My entire body is humming, and all I can think is how much I want to run my hands all over both of them. Followed by my tongue.

“Well, then think about this,” Evan says, his voice getting a little huskier and his smile getting a little naughtier. “The brattier you are toward him at the office, the more he’ll want totameyou after hours.”

I suck in a quick breath and look over at Christopher. He gives me a wink.

A hot shiver goes through me.

This is going to be so hard to pull off.

And so much damned fun.

CHAPTER 17

Christopher

It’s verydifficult to act contrite when I’ve just had the best sex of my life with Evan the night before.

And I’m eagerly anticipating a threesome with him and Finley.

But I do my best as Mary Grace runs on and on about workplace ethics and why we have a no-fraternization policy in place at the firm. This was an emergency meeting called this morning after our HR head, Cathy, found out about Evan and I kissing in my office yesterday. Cathy should be the one who is going over the employee handbook with our full staff, but Mary Grace has taken over.

From the looks on everyone’s faces around the room, they’re bored and annoyed with the extensive lecture. Sure, some of them look curious and maybe a little eager for gossip, but there’s nothing to see here. Evan has already cleared out his office, and most of the staff is avoiding making direct eye contact with me.

While no one was officially told what happened, it’s a small office and I am well aware that there isn’t a single soul here who doesn’t know exactly why we’re having this meeting.

A few of the junior staff and the paralegals have positioned themselves around Finley in a protective bubble. Which is good to see. It means they’re all good people and they’ve taken Finley’s side because they like her.

It means I have some work to do in smoothing over my work relationships with a few of them, and I definitely regret that. As I do Evan being forced into quitting. But if Evan is fine with it—which he definitely seems to be—then I am ready to just move forward.

Evan and I have wanted this relationship for a long time, and I’m not going to let anything ruin how fucking amazing it feels to finally be with him.

Finley is quiet and looks appropriately shocked, but I think that has more to do with the fact that Evan and I got her all hot and bothered this morning, then sent her on her way to work with a teasing grin and a pat on the ass.

I bet she’s still wet under that skirt. I know she’s aching for me and Evan.

Because I’m aching for her.

I’m fighting to concentrate on anything other than her.

After two decades of focusing on my education and my career, it’s amazing how easily Evan and Finley can make me forget everything I’ve worked toward.

“I think we get it,” Charles interrupts Mary Grace. “Thank you for the reminder. Everyone can run through our staff onboarding again at their leisure. We want Banks, Anderson, Banks, and Davis to be a safe space for all of our employees. Cathy’s door is always open to anyone who needs to bring forth an issue.”

Trust Charles to cut to the chase. He cares about his staff, but he also cares about getting back to handling his caseload. I also strongly suspect he thinks Mary Grace can make any meeting twice as long as it needs to be, and he is right.

Mary Grace likes to hear herself talk.
