Motherfucker. He's right. "It has to be someone on our floor. There's no other way?—."

A call comes through the speakers and stops our conversation. We share a look before my brother answers. "We could really use some good news, Dec."

"This is so fucked man. They've made her put on a black fancy dress and everything. I think this is a whole damn wedding. There are only seven guests here right now, all of them are dressed in black hooded robes. We can't tell who any of them are though, and there's been no sign of the King."

"It doesn't matter who they are, they'll be placed within Wonderland's incinerator before dawn. Does she look like she's been physically hurt?"

He hesitates, and I can't deal with it knowing. "Tell us Declan!" I shout.

"One side of her mouth is bloodied, looks like maybe somebody back handed her or something. I'm not sure."

Surprisingly, I remain calm. Those fuckers will be dead soon enough. "Has the Madd Hatter gotten there yet?"

"Yes. He wants to know how fucked he can get?"

"The King is ours, but as for the rest, tell him that he can make them all burn." I answer.

"Hang tight, we'll be there in two minutes." And Gunner hangs up the call.

"You packed our knives but did you grab our masks?" My brother asks.

I smile. "You already know I did."

THIRTY-SIX

We Are One, We Are Many

I've heard that there are no regrets in life, only lessons, but if I live, I'll regret walking outside with Tony for the rest of my life. What if I never see my boys again?

-Presley

My stomach lurcheswith every pothole that "Tony" or whatever his real name is hits with his car. This nausea is all consuming, and I can’t take much more.

He placed a cloth soaked in something over my mouth to drug me, and it has also given me a nasty headache.

Drugging me is the only way he could get me in this backseat though. I gave him hell, and will continue to do so.

Thankfully, he doesn't know that I'm awake yet. I’ve tried to use that to my advantage, but if I move my head even an inch to look out of the window he might notice. It’s useless, and I’m tired of not having any answers.

"Who are you?" My throat is dry and feels like it’s been sandpapered to hell and back.

“My name doesn’t matter, because we are all the same. You will soon learn the hidden truths that you’ve been blinded to all these years.”

That doesn’t sound suspicious at all. “Does the King have many followers?”

He nods. “We are one. We are many. He’s been recruiting us for years. We are good, right? You won’t tell the King I slapped you?” His voice asks with a quiver.

Whoever this King guy is must be lethal. I’ll choose to stay on Tony’s good side for now. “I won’t, but only if you tell me what I’m walking into.”

“What do you mean?” He asks with furrowed brows.

“How about you start with why you kidnapped me?”

“The King ordered it, so it must be so. He’s watched you from afar, and now he plans to officially intertwine your fates.”

This guy is bat shit crazy. What in the hell is he talking about? “How does he plan on doing that?”

The smile he gives me in the rear view mirror is not contagious, it’s creepy as hell. “He’s going to make you his queen tonight. You’ve been chosen for more, and it cannot be undone.”
