My smile is vicious, because he has no idea, don't hurt what's mine. I go for him again, this time however, he's ready. Ethan slices a deep gash into my shoulder, causing me to cry out in pain. Blood flows freely down my arm, anger boils to the surface. My new wound won't stop me from attacking him again. This time he doesn't expect it, Billie is a good girl and connects with his leg.

Mayra yells for us to stop, but I don't take orders from murdering assholes. The two Umbra that escorted me here flank beside me, however this time I won’t allow them to touch me. "Ethan, you can't kill her."

I laugh. "Mayra, baby, you're going to give me a complex. Here I thought I was the one kicking his ass."

Ethan chuckles. "That's cute. I've been holding back, because I can get a little crazy."

I swing Bilie over my shoulder. "Bring your worst."

He moves the guys out of the way, then looks back at Mayra with a sigh. "Please? I won't kill her, okay?"

"Phasma, rein your crazy in, only bring a little pain." She slithers over to where he stands kissing him thoroughly, before turning back to Aunt Georgia.

"I just threw up in my mouth." Surprise slams into me, not because of the kiss they shared, but Ethan is her fucking General!

Mayra shrugs, as she brings the knife back to Aunt Georgia's throat. "If he nicks any part of you, she dies."

No. "I'm not playing your game, Mayra. How about you allow Aunt Georgia to fight instead? It is her life after all." She could probably beat him with one hand tied behind her back.

She smiles. "No can do, I'd much rather witness what The Chosen can do."

I stare at her not backing down, gone is my bravado from before. "Phasma, make her." She hisses.

His answering grin is sinister and a little unnerving. Phasma leaps toward me, as razor sharp nails extend from his fingers. Shock almost gets me cut, but I escape just in time. I extend Billie out, just as shadows encase me and move toward my aunt. Hope fills me because my dark Prince has arrived.

Mayra growls, just before plunging the knife in Aunt Georgia's chest as Sebastian is within a hair's breadth of saving her. Mayra throws rocks down allowing them to escape. Leaving us with no chance of retaliation.

I run to Aunt Georgia’s side and hold her dying body in my arms. There is nothing I can do to save her. Her uneven breaths come out in spurts, but still, she smiles at me. Lifting her fingers to my cheek she caresses me there. Tears fall and land on her face. Don't—cry—baby."

I wipe the stray tears that fall out of her own eyes, kissing her forehead in the process. "I love you forever and always."

"Remember, thiss—is not theee—end. I loveee-yyou." With that she's gone.

Sebastian wraps his arms around me as I scream. Loud sobs wreck my body. "NO!!! Don't leave me! Please don't leave me!"

My uncle's breakthrough then, Uncle Jo grabs his wife with a screech. "Georgia! No!"

I'll never unhear his anguished cries for as long as I live. Guilt grabs hold of me because I was the one that got to say goodbye. He never will. Uncle Radix falls to his knees beside his sister, as he places a comforting hand on his brother-in-law's shoulder. With one swift cut of a knife, he became an only child. The pain stabs my heart in thin angry slashes, this hurts worse than even my parents dying. I never got a chance to really know them, but Aunt Georgia was my constant. She understood me when others did not.

I sense Falkon before she calls me. I was too late to save Aunt Georgia, but not to help my people. Running to the window I peer out. A fire rages below, as the fight continues on. Sebastian hovers behind me, taking his shadow he gently rubs my back. "Your Aunt Adalia has brought reinforcements, dragons included."

Good, I need a distraction. He opens the window, and we jump down into the wind. My dragon awaits. She catches me with one fell swoop, taking me swiftly to the ground. Sebastian’s shadows form into giant wings that carry him to the bottom to meet us.

She nuzzles up against my back, affording me a sense of comfort. Through our bond, she senses the pain of my loss and the betrayal that slapped all of us in our faces. Her anger burns even brighter than mine. Falkon wants to make them pay in both blood and fire.

What can I do?She whispers to me telepathically.

Turning on my heel towards her, I grab my Billie out of its protective sheath while rubbing the side of Falkon’s cheek with my other hand. My answer is a simple one, no other request will suffice.Burn them all.

Yessss. She roars before taking off into the sky to join the other dragons.

"Where is Merrie-Beth?” I calmly ask my lover.

He kisses my forehead, reluctant to tell me the answer. "She's been taken by the Moonland Fae princes."

"Why?" I can't muster any other response.

"She's their mate, Bells. They thought whisking her away from danger was best." He replies.
