It was long and thin,

and the closer I got,

the bigger it got.

My feet quickened their pace

and my heartbeat felt like a drum.

As I approached faster and faster,

I heard a voice from the distance.

It was familiar…

Hekate

It sounded like my mother.

I wanted to run to her,

but there was only so fast

my legs could carry me.

Hekate

And then I realized

where that beam of light

was coming from.

It was the opening

between a pair of

massive granite doors.

But

before I could reach it

I heard something shift

close to me.

A soft rattle of a chain.

A sound of shuffling.

A snort, and then a low, soft growl.

As I turned my head,

I was met with six glowing red eyes

and the collective roar of three huge heads.
