But I could hear something else.

Was it perhaps concern?

reading my mind,

‘even I do not pass

through that realm.

Nyx is a law unto her own.’

Through the ivy of fear

that was crowding my heart,

these words gleamed

like a gold coin

shimmering among stones.

An ancient Goddess

so formidable that even

Olympians feared her.

What power that must be.

I looked back at the waters

and suddenly,

they seemed more inviting.

So I waded through them

to the rock where they started

from and climbed up.

‘I Hope Fortune Favours You’

The words were called in earnest

and I turned to Hermes now,

just to take in the last of him.

His gleaming cap with wings,

his brand new staff

and the mischief in his smile.
