“All right, Preston,” Martin piped in. “Maybe you should calm down.”
I thought I was pretty calm, considering. The only thing that was pissing me off was having to take time away from my Bird.
“I don’t think you understand the situation—”
“That’s why you’re here,” Martin interrupted. “So, why don’t you do your fucking job and tell us.”
My eyes landed on the feminine face beside him. “Says the guy who brought his wife.”
Wives weren’t allowed in the meeting room. Was I surprised Martin brought her? No. For some reason, he thought he was above the rest of us.
His eyes narrowed. “I don’t hide things from my wife. She knows what happens in here.”
“She also knows what my dick tastes like, but you don’t see me inviting her to dinner. Do you?”
Logan and Mason snorted while Silas joined his dad in the death-glare stare down.
“None of the girls are on the hit list.” It was stupid to bring her.
“Does that mean they’re not in danger?” Micha asked.
“No,” I said, stomping on his hope. “That’s why Nikolai is sending his men to pick them up.”
And just like that, the ruckus started again.
“What!” Micha growled.
“I am not letting a bunch of horny Russians around Shelby,” Logan said.
“Relax.” Silas rolled his eyes. “No one wants to fuck your girl.”
Mason held up his hand. “I’d tap that.”
“See,” Logan said, waving at Mason. “By the way, I totally tried to fuck Harper junior year.”
Mason bolted out of his chair. “That’s it, motherfucker.”
“You want to go?” Logan jumped up on the table and puffed his chest out. “Bring it, bitch.”
“Oh, it’s on.” Mason stormed over and glared up at Logan.
Logan glared down at him.
The tension lasted about three seconds.
Just when I thought one of them would take a swing, Mason waved his hand. “It’s cool, man. I tried to fuck Shelby, too.”
“Call it even?”
“Yeah.” Mason nodded, and they both sat back down.
I scrubbed a hand down my face. How anything ever got done with those two around, I had no idea.
“There’s one girl on that list.” Lou’s brown eyes rolled my way. “Marnie Dupire?”
Based on the look he was giving me, I’d say he knew who Marnie was and what she had on him.
“Recognize the name, Lou?”
