I tapped the picture.
Harlow. Dimples. Tulips.
She was lucky she looked fucking cute.
I saved the picture to my phone.
Me:
Tell Mr. Tiny I can buy you flowers myself
Harlow:
Jealous?
Me:
Don’t play with me. I’m omw
Harlow:
Rico finally got you using acronyms???
Harlow:
I know that’s right!
Me:
Bye, Harlow
Harlow:
See you soon, Christian
I dropped my phone in my pocket a moment before Soul threaded his fingers with mine. He brushed a chaste kiss againstmy jaw and kept talking to Rico about donuts. It was always about donuts with this man.
Getting used to the weight of his hand in mine, I stopped fighting the tilt of my lips and smiled.
Because everything in my life was worth smiling about.
Summer had come and gone, yet Harlow was still here. I was a month and a half into renting out my place and staying right where I wanted to be: with Rico, Soul and Harlow.
Life was as sweet as it’d ever been, and we were just getting started.
Full Circle
“Come here for a second, baby.”
I tugged Harlow’s hand and led her into my office.
“What’s up?”
Curious eyes searched my face as I reached around her to flip the lock in place.
When she was trapped between me and the door, I gave her a tender smile. It was the first time we’d been alone all day, and I needed to know how it went with her mom this morning.
“What happened with your mom?”
