Devon nods at this, asking Ash if he could get him some paper and a pen, but Amelia stops him.
“We need to make it clear to the two of you that if the list Devon gives us is wrong, and these wolves also happen to be spies, we will have to execute Devon,” Amelia states, her stern gaze beating down on the two men. I can feel the weight of her alpha power as she releases some of it to show how serious this situation is.
“I understand, Alpha, but I trust Devon,” Ash reassures her, turning to look at his mate. “I know he’ll do the right thing for our pack.”
With that, he stands from his chair, moving to the side of the room where a small filing cabinet waits. After rummaging through it, he returns to Devon’s side with the requested items, and the latter wastes no time writing a list.
“Marco, have you eaten yet?” David asks, breaking the tense silence.
“Not yet,” I answer, turning my gaze to him. Devon would be stupid—suicidal, even—if he tried to attack anyone right now.
“Good. You and Maya should join us for lunch,” my Luan adds with a smile, standing from his seat and helping Amelia up.
“With all due respect, I’d rather stay here and watch over Devon,” I rebut, getting a scoff from Ash.
“It wasn’t a question, Marco. You and Maya need to leave Devon and Ash to make the list and take a break. I know you two are still reeling from being suppressed by Kaylee’s powers,” he states, his eyes narrowing into slits. I frowned, ready to refuse again, but Maya took my hand and tugged it slightly.
Reluctantly, I follow my alpha and Luan out of the boardroom with Maya at my side, linking a lower warrior to monitor the cameras in the room and alert me if Devon tries anything. Just because I’m not physically there doesn’t mean I don’t have my ways of watching him.

Kaylee
Sitting back in the boardroom with two extra people in the mix, I watch Lucas and David fiddle with the computer. The screen that broadcasted Ramos’ messages was split into two parts: one side continued to show Ramos and his plans, and the other pulled up Zoom.
“Hello?” Titus’ voice calls through the speakers before he appears on the screen.
“Hi, Titus. Thanks for joining us,” Amelia says.
“Thank you for inviting me. Lucas and Kaylee filled me in on...everything,” he replies with a chuckle at the end.
“Everything?” Marco asks, his brow raised.
“Everything. From the marking and mating to the pup in Kaylee’s belly and finally to their plan in killing those wretchedwolves leading Oak Fur,” Titus confirms. I roll my eyes as Ash’s head snaps towards me, his eyes full of confusion and happiness.
“You’re pregnant?” he asks in awe.
“I am. About five weeks now,” I answer.
“We weren’t planning to tell anyone until Kaylee was past the danger phase, so this information doesn’t leave this meeting,” Lucas chimes in, looking everyone in the eye before looking at the screen. “Can your men be trusted with this?”
“Don’t worry, Lucas, no one else knows but me. Not even Daisy knows,” Titus reassures us before the sounds of a door opening sounds from the speaker.
“Love, I brought our beta and Head Warrior,” a soft yet strong female wolf calls off-screen.
Curious, I wait until a she-wolf with soft auburn hair cut into a pixie style and ivory skin walks into view. I know from pictures that Titus showed me of her during his stay in Ivory Fangs about two months ago that she was his mate and Luna, Daisy.
“Hello, everyone. I’m Luna Daisy,” Daisy greets with a smile. She is Luna through and through—soft features, a matronly smile, and a calming aura that I can feel even through a screen. Everyone but Lucas takes turns introducing themselves to her, and she asks me if we can have a call later before stating she has work to attend to. After kissing Titus on the cheek, she takes her leave, and two other wolves come to stand behind her, one being a stout woman with raven-black hair braided down her back and a scar over her eye.
“This is my beta, Avery,” Titus states, motioning to the woman standing behind him on the right. “And my Head Warrior, Carson. Lucas already met him.”
I look to Lucas, who shrugs and tells me he’ll explain how he met Carson later tonight. I nod, returning to look at Avery, happy to see another female beta.
“A female beta, too, huh?” Amelia asks Titus in amusement.
“Yes, I got the idea from Kaylee being your beta. Avery’s mate happens to be Daisy’s cousin, so he is her beta,” Titus explains, making me smile. It seems Amelia and I have changed the status quo—she-wolves can now be just as powerful and hold positions traditionally reserved for men.
“Well, Avery, I want to get to know you more. From one female beta to another,” I muse, getting a bright smile from the other she-wolf.
