“No. This is how we deal with stuff,” Carson says.

“Yeah. We verbally beat it out of each other like normal men,” Trig scoffs.

“With y’all’s pissy attitudes, it doesn’t appear to be working.” Luke shrugs. “Except for Slade. He actually seems. . .happy.”

All eyes slowly return to me.Damn.

I shove my phone in my pocket, staring at these morons and all of their pent-up feelings. “You all need to settle the hell down.”

They cross their arms, looking glum and pathetic.

“Not until you tell us what you’re doing being. . .happy.” Carson has been unusually snappy.

I point at him. “Is this about your family requesting you to come home?”

He points back. “Don’t change the subject.”

It’s my turn to cross my arms. “Fine. Sarah and I are—”

“I knew it! I told your asses!” Trig pumps a fist in the air.

“Sure as hell took you long enough,” Carson says, a small smile appearing as he grips my hand and leans in for a hug.

I can’t help but smile.

“I don’t know if I like this,” Trig says. “It feels strange when you smile like that.”

I hear a sniff and look up to see Wind wiping his eyes. “Our giant grouch is growing up. He’s fallen in love and understands what joy feels like.”

I flip him off, and he sniffs some more while the guys laugh. “Don’t think this changes things. Your asses better knock off these sour attitudes. It’s affecting productivity.”

“You just keep all that joy to yourself, and everything will be fine,” Trig says, getting back to work.

“Wait, what’s this about you going home?” Wind asks Carson, and all the guys turn to look at him.

I grin, heading to my office.

“You’ll pay for this, jackass,” he hollers at me.

I love these guys.

I’m so tired, and my brain is fried. It’s midnight, and Sarah crawls into bed.

I extend my arm, and she tucks in beside me, resting her head on my chest. “How’d it go?”

“I read through each question twice to be sure I selected the correct answer.” She throws her leg over mine.

“And?”

“I passed.”

“Sarah.”

“Fine. I got an A.”

I slide my finger under her chin to lift her face to mine. I lean down and kiss her, taking my time, and it only takes a second for her to reciprocate, her body rolling on top of me.
