I smiled. “I always thought of sex as weird and outdated, but now I wonder why people gave up on it.”
Lowering his forehead onto mine, he whispered. “You didn’t answer me.”
“First, tell me this. If Mark and Deidra have sex, what does it mean to him?”
Tyton began rocking back and forth in slow movements. “It would meaneverythingto him.” His hands were caressing my shoulder. “It’s a sort of mat–”
I didn’t hear the rest of his sentence because he gave a sudden growl of irritation.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s not you. My wristband has been vibrating for the last twenty minutes. My family is trying to reach us.”
“Then answer them.”
“I don’t want to. This is more important.”
“But they might worry.”
Tyton gave another low growl. “I’m afraid that if I answer I’ll lose my chance of making love to you.”
Caressing his face, I smiled. “Family comes first!”
CHAPTER 22
Mating
Tyton
The moment I answered the incoming call, I regretted it. My family had searched for us and found out from the security guards that I’d taken off with a boy who had been in a fight.
I would have preferred to stay in the meadow with Devina for the rest of the day, but it looked suspicious that’d I taken off with a young boy during my sister’s tournament. We had to go back.
Picking up Devina’s hoodie, I held it out to her. “It’s still damp.”
“That’s fine. Maybe it will make it more bearable to wear it. Can you help me?”
“Sure.” I took the fake eyebrows from her and glued them on top of her own.
“What about the glasses?”
“We lost them when I carried you out of the arena. When we get back, I’ll look for them.” I took a step back to assess my work.
“Approved?”
“Yeah.” I sighed. “I wish you could dress like a woman and I could hold your hand.”
“Why?”
“Because it would make me proud to show the world that you’re mine.”
Devina stood in front of me, expressions flashing across her face so fast that I wasn’t sure what she was thinking.
“I know we aren’t married, but what happened between us bonded us, don’t you think?”
She gave a small nod and relief filled me. So, it had meant as much to her as it did to me.
The flight in the drone was too short and when we returned to the tournament and landed in the VIP area, my entire family were waiting for us.
