Ever lower, I continue on, over the flat plain of her belly, down her thighs. Reversing direction, I slide my hands back up her legs, thumbs gliding along her inner thighs. I stop just short of the juncture.

“Jess …” Her need-soaked whisper has me tightening painfully.

Palming her ass, I boost Agatha onto the counter. She hisses as her naked skin hits the cold surface.

“You good?”

“Yeah.”

I nod but say nothing more. I can smell her arousal as I stand between her parted legs, and my mouth waters. I’m dying for a taste of her and see no reason to deny myself. Dropping into a squat, I find myself at exactly the right height.

Her pussy is already glistening wet. God, I want to sink into all that wet heat and stay there forever. I glance up to find Agatha watching me intently, clearly as caught up in the moment as I am. Parting the pouty lips protecting her core, I reach a reverent finger out to touch the tight little nub.

I can feel the muscles in her legs tense against my shoulders. “Scoot forward a bit, gorgeous.”

Agatha does as I ask. Returning my eyes to hers, our gazes lock as I lower my mouth. Her taste explodes on my tongue, and I hum in pleasure. Just as I’m about to go down on her, my phone rings. Cursing a blue streak, I reluctantly get to my feet.

“I’m so sorry, Tigs, I have to get that. It’s the special ringing tone that tells me it’s work, otherwise I would just ignore it.”

“It’s okay. I know you have to answer when work calls. Go get that.” The disappointment in her voice tears at me.

The phone rings off and immediately starts ringing again. Snatching it off the nightstand, I answer.

“Yeah.”

“I’m going to guess it wasn’t the best time to call.” The humor I can hear in his voice just pisses me off more.

“You could say that.”

“Sorry to interrupt, dude. Unfortunately, we’re going boots up in ninety,” Knight replies.

“See you there.” Disconnecting the call, I resist the urge to fling my phone across the room. “Fuuuck.”

“Is everything all right, Jessen?” Agatha’s pulled a robe on and is standing in the doorway to the master bath, her arms wrapped around her waist.

“No.” The clipped word is barely out of my mouth, and I feel guilty for being a douche. It’s not her fault I’m being sent on a mission when I’d far rather stay here with her and finish what I just started.

“I’m sorry. That was unfair. I’m pissed at the situation and taking it out on you.” Rubbing the back of my neck, I close my eyes and drop my head, take a calming breath. Then another.

A soft touch on my check has my looking up. “It’s okay. I understand. I get that you’re frustrated about leaving right this minute, but this is your job. You get to go out there and save lives, make a difference. Go do your thing, and I’ll be here when you come home.”

Wrapping my arms around her, I crush Agatha in a hug. Never before have I ever had a problem picking up and going at the drop of a hat when duty called. Today, everything in me rebels. I don’t want to let go of the soft, warm woman in my arms. I don’t want to leave.

Finally, with a deep sigh, I step back. I know if I don’t do it now, I never will. I grab my stuff, and Agatha walks me to the door. Pausing on the threshold, I turn back for one last kiss.

“Be careful out there,” Agatha says when the kiss ends.

“I will. Enjoy your retreat and be safe.”

“Thanks, I will.” Forcing myself out the door, I head for the elevator. “Jessen …”

“Yeah?” I stop and turn around.

“Promise me you’ll –” Her words trail off. “You know what? Never mind. It’s not fair of me to ask, so don’t worry about it. Just know you’re in my thoughts and prayers.”

Sure I know what she was going to ask, I’m grateful I won’t have to lie to her by making a promise I might not be able to keep. But for the first time, I have someone to come home to, and I’ll be damned if I do something stupid to fuck that up.
