He hops out of the vehicle, and I watch him round the car with the grace of a panther. A joy to watch. He opens the door for me and offers a hand to assist me out. My girly heart thumps a little faster at his chivalry, an art that sadly seems to be dying out.

Yes, I believe women are capable, strong, and resilient. We can achieve pretty much anything we set our minds to. But it doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate being treated like a lady either.

“Thank you.” Tucking my arm in his, he leads me to the front door of the restaurant. The incredible smells wafting out onto the street are making my mouth water.

A tall, exquisite woman in an apron greets us as we enter. “Hey Lucky, how’s it going?”

“Good, Daisy. You?”

“Yeah, same, thanks. Grab a table and I’ll be right with you. Just need to place an order with the kitchen quickly.”

“Cool. Thanks.” With a smile, he says, “Come on. I see my favorite spot by the window is available since it’s still a little early for the lunch crowd. The view from there is spectacular. Well, not quite as good as yours, but pretty damn good all the same.”

“Show me,” I invite, returning his sexy smile. I can’t help wondering if it’s practiced or really is just that lethal.

True to her word, Daisy’s back in no time at all.

“All right folks, what can I get you to drink?”

Jessen raises an eyebrow in silent query, waiting for me tell her what I want. Once I’ve placed my order for a watermelon daiquiri, he orders a beer.

“Coming right up. I’ll give you a few minutes to decide on what you want to eat while I go get your drinks. Be back in a flash.”

As she walks away, he turns back to me. “Any idea what you want to eat?”

I shake my head, perusing the menu. The more I read, the less I have a clue what to order. Everything sounds so damn good. In frustration, I give up and close the menu.

“So, what would you recommend since this is your spot?” I ask.

“Anything you don’t eat or are allergic to?” When I shake my head, he continues, “Well then, I’m gonna say the Bacon and Brie Magic, ’cause they’re not kidding around when they say it’s magic. It’s a flavor sensation you donotwant to miss.”

I can’t help but snort with mirth at his words. “A flavor sensation, huh? Best I give that one a go then. Definitely don’t want to miss out on the magic,” I tease.

“Good choice. You won’t regret it.”

Barely a minute goes by when Daisy places our drinks down on the table. “Decided what you’re ordering?”

I nod but leave Jessen to order for the both of us. Daisy turns to me, “How would you like your burger done?”

“Oh, uh, medium please.”

“Great. Be back with the food. Shout if you need anything before then.”

Jessen’s gazing at me with a weird look on his face. “What?”

“Never pegged you for a medium kinda girl. I like it.”

“What can I say? I’m my daddy’s girl.”

“I haven’t even met the man, and I already like him.”

“He’s a likeable kinda guy,” I quip.

“So it seems.” He takes a mouthful of beer. “At the risk of sounding sexist, how did you know about my car?”

“Like I said, I’m a daddy’s girl. He used to be a rally driver. After a nasty accident left him with nerve damage in his right hand making it difficult to shift quickly, he became a navigator. So, if it had four wheels, Pop was into it. As his little shadow, I learned all I know from him.”

“Can you drive a stick?”
