“Not something I’d have ever expected Shane to say.” Tanner slapped me on the back. “But let’s go. Rae will hurt us all if we’re late.”

He was only sort of right. She’d been much more relaxed planning her own wedding than her clients’.

We piled into my truck, and when we got to the chapel, the pews were full of our family, our close friends.

Grams gave me a thumbs-up. “The first wedding is always the most fun.”

My dad tried to shush her. It had to be bad luck mentioning more weddings at the first. She’d been married three times, but only was in love once. I was lucky that the first time was the right time.

I knew it.

My mom walked out of the door that led to the bride’s dressing room, and when she saw me, her eyes glassed over. “My Shane.” She rushed forward for a hug. “I’m so proud of you.”

“How is Rae?” I asked, pulling back. I had no doubts about us, but I hadn’t seen her since yesterday.

Mom smiled. “Neurotic, but that’s our girl. We should be starting soon. You go get in place.” She turned to my brothers. “You, come with me.”

And then, I was alone, walking down the aisle as a sea of people watched me.

I stood by the minister and waited. And waited.

Finally, the door opened to let in my brothers escorting Finley and Mariana, the only two bridesmaids. Cane came in next, a low growl emanating in his throat as Cole led him down the aisle. A pouch was tied to Cane’s collar with two rings. I bent to free it.

Then, she was there, walking toward me as she had her entire life.

She’d been a part of my family since she was a kid, one of us. I’d just failed to see why.

Rae had always been meant to be a Kelly. She’d always been meant for me.
