“Yeah…” Blake’s grin turned into a scowl.

Emily lounged against the locker and grinned, savoring the moment. She swung her arm wide. “So… you haven’t heardallthe news.”

“What?” Angela frowned, looking a bit worried.

But then, it was smart to worry about Jeanie. And yet… she had news to share. “The Jenkins twins came into the cafe last night when I was working.” She paused for dramatic effect.

“Come on, Em, just tell us.”

“Okay, okay. Here it goes. Jeanie Francis’s father got transferred. I kid you not. They’re moving away.” She paused again and couldn’t contain her grin. “Next month.”

“Really?” The worry seemed to melt right off his face. “She’s moving?”

“The Jenkins sisters are the best source of information in the town. So, yes. It’s for real. They even heard Jeanie’s mother talking about not sending her back to school after the suspension. She thinks the school is being unfair to her poor, unfortunate daughter. And that Kade is the one who got her into trouble. Her Jeanie would never do anything like this. And she wants her precious, not-her-fault daughter way far away from Kade.”

“She’s really moving away?” Angela stood there with a stunned expression. “We don’t have to worry about more problems with her?”

“Nope. The girl is history.”

Angela gave a delighted laugh and threw her arms around Blake. “This is such great news, isn’t it?”

Blake looked about as stunned with Angela’s spontaneous hug as he had about the news Jeanie was moving. Suddenly Angela jumped back as if only just realizing what she was doing.

Emily swallowed a grin. “Well, I should be getting to class. Just wanted you two to hear the good news.”

She turned and headed off down the hallway, no longer hiding her grin. Her cousin might be in over his head with his relationship with Angela. But she didn’t think that was necessarily a bad thing.

Chapter 21

Rob sat at the kitchen table in the owner’s cottage staring at his sister’s computer. “You’ll need a new site. And you need a way for people to book reservations online. This current site is… pathetic.” He pushed the laptop toward Violet.

“But I don’t have the funds to pay for someone to redo the website and put in a reservation system.” Violet shoved the laptop back at him.

“You can’t have a phone call be the only way to book a reservation. You’d need someone answering the reservation line all day and evening. You need an online booking system. And the website looks like it was made fifteen years ago.”

“It probably was.” Violet shrugged.

“You need this. And…I’mpaying for this.” He gave Vi a hard stare, hoping she wouldn’t argue with him.

“No, you’re not.”

Short-lived hope. “Yes, I am.

“Not.”

“Come on, Vi. Let me invest in this. I’m coming around to the idea that this really was a good investment for you. Moonbeam is a good place for you.”

“And how about you? You like Moonbeam, don’t you?”

“I… do.” He nodded.

She gave him her wheedling smile. “You should move here, too.”

How had they gotten from him paying for the technical work they needed to talking about him moving here? He narrowed his eyes at her. “How about you let me pay for Austin Woods to help us with the technical stuff—”

“And you’ll move here?” she interrupted him.

“I’llconsiderit.” He shoved the laptop back to Violet.
