“Took you long enough.” Hunter snorts from the door. “Thought you were trying to make another one out there.”

“We can leave,” I say, cocking my head to the side.

“Don’t youdare, Wills.” Ashlie peeks her head around thecorner. “Hunter’s just mad because I told him I want to wait another year before we try for a baby.”

“Damn, Ash. Let’s just tell everyone our business, huh?”

“Oh, whatever. They’re family.” Ashlie grabs my arm and pulls me away from the door. “Now, if you’ll excuse us, we need to have a sister chat.”

Confusion pulls into the guys’ faces simultaneously as they look at me, and I respond with a shrug. I have no idea what a “sister chat” entails. Ashlie and I don’t have those regularly. She marches me through the handful of couples in the living room, under the pink streamers hanging from the ceiling, and straight back to the kitchen, guiding me onto a stool at the counter. “Sooo…”

“Look, can I get some food first? I’m starv?—”

“Yeah, yeah, here.” She grabs a heart-shaped paper plate and reaches into one of the slow cookers lined up on the counter. When she presents me with the steaming taquitos, I chew them with an open mouth, trying to cool them down while I scarf. “So, are you cleared? Did you have a quickie before you came over?” She gasps, wide-eyed, whispering, “Were you doing the nasty in his truck just now?”

I finish the food in my mouth, hoping a pause will calm the madness. “No, Ash. Not everyone’s comfortable with getting it on in public like you and Hunter.”

“Hey, don’t knock it ’til you try it, sis.”

“Well, I’m not trying it, so…”

“Whatever. Are you cleared at least?”

I take another bite. “Yep, this morning.”

“And you haven’t jumped his bones yet?”

“What are all these euphemisms you keep coming up with? No, I haven’tjumped his bones. Some of us have businesses to run.”

“Then what were those bedroom eyes you two walked in with?”

My ears burn, and I wave a hand in the air as a distraction. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I do. Either you’re freshly fucked or you…” She peers at me, then gasps again.Dramatic ass. “You love him!” she squeals.

“So what? I’m having his baby. It was bound to happen.”

“Have you told him yet?”

“Of course I have. And before you ask, he said it first.”

She shakes my arm, making the food roll around on the plate in my hand. “Girl! If you don’t get your ass home and go service your man…”

“What?” I scoff. “You’re ridiculous.”

“Wills, he’s been in love with you for months, and crazy about you before that. You’ve just been clueless. You’re going to tell me after eight weeks, you’re not busting?”

She has a point there. Apart from the steamy dry humping lap ride I took on him weeks ago, we’ve kept it pretty tame. I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about throwing caution to the wind and crawling on top of him in the middle of the night. “Okay, maybe I am, but we can stay for the party.”

“Ten bucks says you leave early.”

“Twenty bucks says you’re annoying.”

Trevor walks into the kitchen then, and Ashlie and I freeze like we just got caught with state secrets. He gives us that same confused look from before. “Just came to check on you. Everything okay?”

“Yep!” Ashlie turns on her heel and flits across the kitchen. “I was just leaving.”

I roll my eyes at her exit and smile back at the dimples grinning down at me. “How are the earbuds?”
