“Or unlucky,” I say, before I can stop myself.
Damn liquid courage.
He throws back his head and laughs. “Don’t tempt me, honey. The greedy part of me has no problem keeping you in here the rest of the night.” His gaze softens as he smiles. “I know you need to get Bee home, though, so I’ll be a good boy for once and wait.” He steps back and opens the door.
Another place in my heart opens just a little bit wider for him as he puts Bee before his own needs.
I walk through the door, and he follows behind me. I’mrelieved when I see his family still outside talking. I know we weren’t gone long, but I still don’t want to embarrass myself on the first day of meeting everyone.
“Let’s say goodbye, and then we can grab Bee and head out,” he whispers, not wanting to disturb the sleeping kids.
I nod my head and follow him outside. Lyla is the first to spot us, and I can tell by the smile she’s trying to hold back that we are not fooling anyone. I feel like I have a big neon sign on my head that saysI just orgasmed in your house, and it was at the hands of your brother-in-law.They need to put that on a shirt. There has to be someone out there in this world who can relate.
“We are heading out. Olivia needs to get Bee to bed.” Miles casually says the statement as if we are a normal couple leaving for the night. I see his brothers' amused faces and want to crawl into a hole and die.
“I thought I was taking her home,” Savi says, raising her perfect eyebrow at him.
“Not anymore,” he declares firmly.
Savi starts to say something, and I quickly cut her off, wanting to end this conversation. “Thank you so much for having me, Lyla, and you too, Jake. You have a beautiful home. Bee and I had such a great time getting to know you all.”
“You are welcome here anytime, Olivia.” Jake smiles warmly at me.
“Don’t forget about girls’ night. We have you on the group text, so you are locked in now,” Sophia, Travis’s wife, grins at me. Her long black hair is tied back in a ponytail, and her beautiful green eyes are smiling.
“There’s no escaping us, especially since you bring such good wine,” Eve giggles. “We might kidnap you.” She’s curled up next to her husband, Ryder, on the outdoor sofa. Hisfingers absently play with her auburn hair as her bright blue eyes shine with laughter.
I got along so well with all the girls today. It was as if I had known them forever. I can tell how much they love their family and each other. It’s a sisterhood I always wanted but never had. I have one older sister, but we are complete opposites and never see eye to eye on anything. She has two kids with her lawyer husband and lives in a perfectly put-together house in the suburbs.
I, on the other hand, get pregnant and become a single mom. My home is well-lived in, and I have a taste for bad boys. We are two polar opposites wanting completely different things out of life.
“I won’t forget,” I laugh. “I’m looking forward to it.”
“I’ll be by tomorrow to get my bike,” Miles tells Jake.
“No problem,” Jake says, taking a sip of his bourbon.
“I’ll put it in the garage for you before I leave, since I’m the only one who has the balls to have a bike.” Travis grins at our two other brothers.
“I have the balls, but I prefer fast cars,” Ryder says, defending himself.
“I just value my life,” Jake chuckles.
“Pussy,” Miles coughs, and we all laugh. I can’t imagine what they were like as teenagers.
“This is why we need your wine,” Savi says, rolling her eyes at her brothers. “I had to live with this shit every day of my life growing up.”
“I’ll make sure to keep your supply stocked,” I grin at Miles’s sister. I could tell right away when I met her that they’re all related. She has the same dark hair and facial features. Except for the ocean blue eyes and dusting of freckles across her nose, she could be a twin of one of her brothers.
“I knew I loved you,” she says, lifting her arms for a goodbye hug. Grinning at my new friend, I bend down to hug her back.
We say our goodbyes and slip back into the house.
“Thanks for watching Bee tonight,” I whisper to Max, who is the only one awake now. He looks just like his dad. He’s going to be a heartbreaker with the ladies if he isn’t already. Travis and Sophia will have their hands full.
“It’s no problem,” he grins at me. “She was easy compared to Uncle Ryder’s two boys and my little brother,” he chuckles softly.
“I believe that,” Miles quietly laughs.
