“Hush.” I smack his shoulder and huff out a fond sigh. “Let me give you good news.”

He blinks in confusion, but obediently shuts his mouth, mimicking locking his lips and tossing the key away.

I have… no clue how to say it.

We've been trying for a while now, but I always expected to take the first test together. I didn't think it was anything more than a stomach bug. I certainly didn't expect the test I took just to be careful to come backpositive.

Now that we're here, I don't know how to tell him.

A mess of anxiety and excitement curls in my gut as I take in the curiosity shining in his eyes. Words dry up in my throat, and action comes easier. I take one of Bo’s hands in mine and press it flat over my stomach.

His brows furrow in confusion as he glances back and forth between my face and my stomach. My breath catches in my chest when I see the spark of understanding light in his brown eyes. They blow wide in excitement, and his smile grows so huge it has to hurt his cheeks.

He drops straight to his knees, his other hand coming up to cup my tummy adoringly.

“Really?” he asks breathlessly.

“Really.” I laugh, overwhelmed by joy and excitement as Bo leans forward to press a gentle kiss to my belly button. “I took the test this morning.”

He laughs—not his usual boisterous shout of a laugh, but something soft and tremulous, disbelieving and thrilled in equal measures.

“God.” The word escapes him on a breath, reverent and adoring as he cups my stomach. “I would've been more careful with you if I knew.”

I laugh and haul him up off his knees to pull him into another kiss. One hand stays carefully cupping my belly, but he wraps the other around the back of my neck and holds me still as he kisses me breathless. I can't imagine how he's going to be by the time I'm showing, but it's going to be just as charming as this is.

“I'm not that fragile yet,” I say with a laugh against his lips. “And you weren't very rough with me, mister.”

“Yeah, but you're the most precious thing in my life, Kenz. I have to make sure I treat you like it.”

His hands are soft on my body as he touches me, gentle and lazy, trailing fingertips over smooth skin like he wants to memorize every inch of me. My chest aches with affection and I tug him to meet me for one more kiss.

“You do, Bo,” I whisper. “Every day.”

My best friend,

I’m ready to give Jamie all of me.
