Trenton didn't look happy but nodded. "Just let me know what you need."
Bryon understood Trenton's hesitation to work on a case. "The Denver team is doing all the major digging on the cases, but you know how to manipulate cameras and hack into areas that others don't. I may need your skills once we figure out who we're going after and where they are located. Let the Denver team deal with the dark web."
Trenton nodded.
"Archer and Carter are driving back with you. They'll be gathering supplies to bring back here. Xander and Kacey, get with them and make a list of everything you might need." He glanced up as someone stood in the doorway to the office. Bryon smiled. "Geo, glad you could join us. Come on in." He stood and pulled a chair out near the desk for Geo to sit in. "Have you met everyone yet?"
Geo nodded as he looked around the room. "Last night."
"Good. We were just talking about our plans." Bryon looked at the rest of the team. "I mentioned I'm sending Eric, Lenora, and Andy with Faith and Becca, but after speaking with Geo this morning, I promised him that I would allow him the choice on what happens to him. He is old enough and has been through enough that I think he's mature enough to decide for himself. He's aware we want to go after the men and women who hurt them, but he doesn't know the details of how we operate." He turned back to Geo. "I'm sending the others to California where they are safe, and Eric can get better medical care. You can go with them, and we'll find you a place once we finish here that is safe for you to live, or you can stay here with us for now and we can find you a place in Vegas if that's what you desire. If you stay, I need your word you will never speak about what you see or hear. Our lives depend on that." His gut still told him he could trust the kid, which was crazy, but he trusted the feelings he had about the boy.
"I'd like to stay here," Geo said without hesitation. "If I can help you go after the people who hurt us, I'd like to."
Xander laughed. "The kid's one of us."
Bryon narrowed his eyes at Xander. "Don't encourage him."
"He can help me with some of the files. I'll be careful not to let him see anything he shouldn't, but I could use help getting everything in order. He knows some of the players and might have information that can help us. He also knows the city better than we do. He might be able to help us find our way around or into places." Matt smiled at Geo.
Bryon nodded. "You okay with that Geo, and with keeping quiet about what we do?"
"Who would I tell?" Geo shrugged. "I don't know anyone. I promise not to tell anyone what you do and I'm happy to help with whatever you guys need. Does that mean I can stay in Vegas when you're done?"
"If we can find you a safe family to stay with. I'll have Parson work on that as well if you want to stay here." Bryon relaxed. "You can take the guest room that no one is using. Did Becca get you some clothes?"
"They're supposed to be delivered later today." Geo blushed. "Thank you for that. I've never had new clothes."
Bryon's heart ached for the kid, and he saw by the expression on the other faces they were feeling the same way. "I'm glad we could get them for you. Let one of us know if you forgot anything or need something else. Becca's also ordered enough food to keep us going for a few days. Make yourself at home in the kitchen. Once Becca leaves, there probably won't be anyone cooking, so if you're hungry, help yourself."
"Thanks." Geo smiled.
"Okay, back to the plans. We're at a holding point until Carter and Archer get back with our equipment, but until then, we're all going to be digging for information. Dyson said Jeremy has some contacts he's going to look into and see if we can get any of the government information on Diaz and his group. He'll be calling tonight along with sending anything Jeremy or Marshall have found. Geo, I want to sit down with you and talk more about who you saw around the foster home and anything you might have heard them talk about." He looked over the group. "Anyone have any questions?"
"Since I'm not allowed to touch the computers and Geo doesn't know how to search for information, is it okay if I head downstairs with him for a bit?" Xander asked.
Bryon laughed. "That's up to Geo." He looked at the kid. "You up for learning how to play those video games we keep talking about?"
Geo's eyes lit up. "Really?"
Xander stood. "If I don't get a video game break, I'm not very nice."
"That's a fact." Matt slapped Xander on the arm.
"Go and have fun, but when you're done, find me so we can talk, Geo. And let the other kids know we aren't making you stay. It's your choice. I don't want them to worry about you. It's going to be overwhelming enough for them to go with Becca." Bryon tossed his pen on the desk.
"I will. Thanks." Geo turned to Xander.
As he watched Xander throw an arm around Geo's shoulders, he smiled. He was in charge of a bunch of kids, but when it came down to it, he wouldn't choose anyone else to have his back.
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Bryon watched as the two SUVs pulled down the driveway. He hated being away from Becca, but hopefully, this would be the last time it happened. Once they got home, he wouldn't plan anything out of town unless she was with him. Not that this had been planned. If things had gone right, he'd be on his honeymoon now with nothing to worry about but loving her.
He'd made the right choice sending them away. All he had to do now was wait for the call that they'd arrived home safely and he could relax. Worrying about her safety was more draining than dealing with any of the other events going on.
"They'll keep her safe." Noam came up behind him.
"I know. I'm just frustrated. This was supposed to be our wedding weekend. Now we aren't even going to be in the same state, let alone sleeping in the same bed." Bryon shook his head. "It is what it is. I can't change things. I'm proud as hell of her saving Lenora. I can't be angry things have turned out this way. I'm just old and grumpy when I don't get my way."
