Ada

When I wokeup Sunday morning, my head ached. I wasn’t sure if it was from the injury or the drinking, but Fluffy Thor came and snuggled with me a while. I smiled as I stroke his fur. He knew how to cheer me up when I was feeling under the weather.

Destiny didn’t come home, but she would sometime today. My aunt and uncle and my cousins were coming over to see Destiny. I was glad I had somewhere to be. I didn’t want to be stuck with all of them today.

It was Kiba ladies day, and I had one huge secret. One I wish I could tell Lexi, but I wouldn’t. I had told Saint I was good at keeping secrets and I had a feeling that was why he shifted back and kissed me.

Well, he more than kissed me. I couldn’t get that kiss, his touch, that orgasm, out of my head. I freaked out when he left and I had to go tell my dad I wanted to leave. Thankfully, Huxley didn’t come too close. I waved at him from across the hallway before running to Dad’s car.

But now my car was still there. I was going to ask if one of Lexi’s mates could help me pick it up today.

I thinkI was late for ladies’ day. I didn’t know what time Zara had said, but I had packed the swimsuit and pajamas that she had told us to bring yesterday when she invited us. I didn’t get it, but that’s what she said. I was going to bring some food, but I just took so long to get out of bed that I didn’t get a chance to bake. I felt guilty coming there empty-handed as it was and now I was possibly late.

Kiba court was confusing, and long… too long. Lexi and I were trying to find the house but they were so similar looking.

“Which one is Zara’s?” Lexi asked me as if I knew. I didn’t look at Noah that day he was dropped off, not really. But maybe if I faced the Lovell’s, then…

“Shit,” I giggled. I had no clue.

But Elijah must have heard us. He was on the gate security with Asher today. I didn’t like Asher too much. He was a bit of an ass, and that was saying something because Saint could be an ass too. But Asher was a grimy ass, something about him was slimy. At least when Saint was being an ass he did it to your face.

“Two lost ladies on their way to ladies’ day, I am at your service.” Elijah bowed to us and we laughed. He was funny.

“Yeah, actually I don’t know who lives at any of these houses at all. I guess I never go out,” Lexi replied to him. Never goes out? She was living here now, and oh… I held my smile in as best I could. With four mates she didn’t have much time to be just wandering the street.

“All right, so it goes by rank. Alpha is first and at the end, and even though Nash is second in charge, there are betas who are also higher up and work with Alaric. So there,” he pointed to the left of the Lovell’s house, “that is the Wood’s. Saint lives there.” Then Elijah winked at me… What was that supposed to mean? Did he know what happened last night? I showered… I washed before today. Did I still smell like him?

Elijah walked towards a house and was talking, but I just… If he knew and I showered that much, then did Huxley smell that from the hallway? There was, like, a bigger distance than Elijah was from me now. But… I missed the rest of what he said about who lived where and stuff, but I guessed this was the right one as he turned and walked away.

“Have a great day, ladies.”

Lexi knocked on the door and it didn’t take long before it was opened and three women were staring back at us with big smiles, and it was a little daunting. These women were wolf shifters and I was just human. I was the only human. Oh god, I should have stayed home and dealt with my horrible cousins.

A beautiful lady with strawberry blonde hair stepped up and grabbed mine and Lexi’s hand, dragging us inside.

“Come in, girls! We’ve been waiting for you.”

They had? When the door slammed shut, Lexi jumped. Okay, that seemed a little too perfect. Were they trying to creep us out?

“Don’t scare them.” A woman I recognized pushed the woman aside. “Sorry about that. Hallie was just excited to see you both. I’m Gemma.”

I held my hand out to shake hers. “Hi, Gemma. I’m Ada.” It was good to put a name to a face. Gemma looked at my hand before wrapping her arms around me in a hug. I wasn’t expecting it, but it was nice.

“Oh, I know who you are. We met already; I just wasn’t sure if you remembered our names.” I didn’t, so I was grateful that she told me hers.

“I’m Lexi.” Everyone laughed and nodded to Lexi. As if they wouldn’t know who she was. It was funny.

Gemma led us down to a huge lounge room. The house was painted in a sky blue. There were family photos on the walls and I could see three young boys in one, the baby being Noah. He was so cute as a kid with his little mop of blond curls.

The cream-colored couch was huge. All these pillows were scattered around the floor with blankets. It looked like they were going to build a fort here. That would be fun.

“Come on in, the party has just started. I’ll introduce you all to the ladies of Kiba.” There were four more ladies sitting on the couch. There wasn’t that many, I thought there would be at least thirty here. Kiba was huge.

“Everyone is invited to ladies’ day, but not all come,” Hallie said as she moved closer to us. That made sense.

Everyone took a seat and I moved in and sat next to Lexi as Zara did introductions.

“So we have Hallie, Gemma, Cassie, Stella, Payton and her little man Keanu—yes, after the sexy actor—and Tyra. Welcome to our ladies’ day, where no males are to step foot on Jones land until the clock strikes midnight.”
