He kept watching me and he raised his eyebrows again like he was trying to study me as I studied him. I held his gaze. I wasn’t backing down, even if he was a mafia man.

“I’m not a vampire,” he said with a grin on his face, and I chuckled. It was like he could read my thoughts.

He looked away first. I was proud that I held onto his stare. He was now looking to where Lexi came out of the bathroom. I looked over and smiled to her. She was wearing this beautiful floral dress. I had never seen her in a dress. She looked amazing.

“Tobias, I didn’t know you were coming.” She looked over to him and they started to speak to each other.

Tobias… Tobias, who was Tobias?Oh my god.

“Ada, I’m so glad you got to meet Tobias, my father.” I sat up straighter and nodded.Oh god. How could I have thought he could have been in the mafia? When he said he was an angel, he wasn’t lying.

“I forgot. Wow. Hi, Lexi’s dad, it’s nice to meet you. I didn’t realize you looked so young. Like, well, Lexi told me, but like, wow. What kind of moisturizer do you use? It must be amazing for wrinkles.

“I missed meeting you last time you were here, what with the whole saving lives and stuff, but you were probably busy and everything and I didn’t want to look at the naked shifters, like their dicks were just all out for show.”

Oh my god, shut up, Ada.

“Okay, so I just have to get my shoes. I’m sorry we can’t stay long. We have to be going,” Lexi said, grabbing my arm. I jumped off the stool and giggled. I made a bad impression. I talked about shifters’ dicks. Oh god, what was wrong with me… and ugh… I kept saying “Oh god” in my head in front of an angel. A real one.

“Wait, I didn’t get to do your hair.” Lexi stopped at Galen’s words. He pointed over to the table where he had a brush and comb and a bunch of hair stuff laid out.

“Shut the front door. Galen is doing your hair?” I turned to Galen; he had this sweet smile on his face as he nodded and I remembered not to swear in front of an angel. I was doing much better already. Ranger emerged from the bedroom. He yawned and scratched his chest. He was wearing black boxer briefs… like, they were tight and, holy crap, I shouldn’t stare, but I was.

I almost laughed when his eyes landed on Tobias.

“Ah, hey, Tobias. Ah… it’s a beautiful morning.” I held my hand over my mouth to stop giggles from escaping. This was too funny. I had never seen Ranger Lovell scared of anything, and here he was… scared of Lexi’s dad. He told Lexi she looked good, but he surprised me when he turned and said, “Ada, you look very nice too.”

I stood in shock. He had talked to me plenty of times, but he had never complimented me before.

Before I could even work out what was happening today, Zara walked in with Noah and Saint. My eyes widened at the sight of Saint. He looked tired and sad.

“Hey,” Noah said cheerfully as he waved at me. I could feel the blush rising on my cheeks as I smiled and waved back.

“Hi, girls. Oh wow, Galen, you’re doing Lexi’s hair? That’s so wonderful. I was coming over to see if she needed any help, as I have lots of experience. Ada, did you want me to do your hair?”

Noah’s mom wanted to do my hair? I looked over to Lexi. I would like that, but I didn’t want to do it with Saint here. I could feel his heated gaze on me and it was making me nervous.

“Your hair is beautiful like it is. I just thought I would offer, if you wanted.”

My mom wasn’t good at fancy hairstyles, and I didn’t want to bug Destiny. She was busy doing bridesmaid stuff. I sat on the couch as I listened to Galen and Zara talk about hair stuff he had bought. I watched Noah and Saint. What were they doing here? Well okay, what was Saint doing here? Were they now packmates? I was really confused.

“Boys, go wait outside. Your friends aren’t even ready yet. They’re all in bed. Let the girls have some space.”

I sighed; he wasn’t here for me. He was here for Maverick. I should have known that it was silly to think he wanted to be here because I was.

Saint grumbled something under his breath as he turned, and Zara smacked his ass. Zara was small compared to them both and she smacked his butt like he was a child. My mouth dropped open as he left fast.

“Oh, he needed a smack on his ass. You don’t talk back to a momma.”

I moved over to the table with all the stuff and sat beside Lexi. Zara moved in behind me and I pointed to the back of my head and told her to be careful. I could feel her move my hair to have a look and she squeezed my shoulder.

When Tobias left, it was like his presence still lingered. Maybe Destiny would like an angel for a boyfriend.

“Tobias is very attractive. I wonder if he’s dating anyone.” Lexi made a strangled coughing sound.

“Ada, that’s my father.” Lexi turned to me. Galen was doing something with her hair and tsked at her for messing up what he was doing. It made me smile.

“What? I was just saying out loud what everyone is thinking. To be fair, he looks like your big brother, not your dad.”

I could see Galen’s grin over Lexi’s shocked expression. Zara laughed as she brushed my hair.

“He’s a DILF, but don’t tell my mates I said that.” Lexi’s mouth dropped open and I wanted to giggle.

“I heard that, Zara,” Ranger yelled from the bedroom. I burst out in giggles. I loved her mates. Noah’s dads were all so different, yet all perfect for Zara. She made a good pick with them. From what I had seen with the mates around here, Zara and Lexi seemed to have the most mates. I knew Huxley only had two dads. He had mentioned them in a text.

Zara had donean amazing job of my hair. There were braids and curls, and she must have been a magician because I had never had my hair look like this before. I didn’t know that it could look this good. I wondered if it would be weird to ask her to do the same for prom. Like, even though I wasn’t taking her son… weird, right?

Except, she just invited Lexi and me to her house tomorrow for Kiba ladies’ day. So, she liked me as much as I liked her. Or she was inviting me because of Noah? Maybe I would ask her then. She might say yes.
