Once in the church, Callum waited with bated breath at the altar with the priest and the member of the audience included mainly of Louise's family and Callum's family.
When the entrance of the bride was finally announced moments later, Callum's heart thudded in his chest even before he saw her.
The first person Callum saw was Louise's distant cousin who was the heir to her father's estate and who led her into the church in place of her father.
When Louise herself stepped into the church just seconds later, Callum's breath caught in his chest.
He had never seen a sight so beautiful and the sheer beauty that Louise radiated brought tears to Callum's eyes. He, however, quickly blinked the tears off.
When Louise glided toward him, no one else in the world existed at that moment. Callum could only see Louise, her beautiful face, her calm demeanor, and her angelic poise.
It wasn't until she finally stopped in front of him and smiled, that his heart began to beat again.
"Louise," he whispered, unable to take his eyes off her, "you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen."
Louise's smile grew even bigger and she looked away, blushing.
The priest opened his book then and began to read out loud;
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here in the sight of God, and in the face of this congregation, to join together this Man and this Woman in holy Matrimony; which is an honorable estate, instituted of God in the time of man’s innocence, signifying unto us the mystical union that is..."
Callum did not hear the rest of what the priest was reading as he had eyes only for his beautiful bride.
"Therefore, if any man can show any just cause, why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now speak, or else hereafter forever hold his peace,"the Priest said.
The Priest's last statement caught Callum's attention because even though, they had no reason to be scared that someone would speak up at this moment, yet, he could not help but think about all the conflicts that had led to this moment of him being married to her.
Thankfully, no one seemed to have anything against their union. Callum was relieved.
"I require and charge you both, as ye will answer at the dreadful day of judgment when the secrets of all hearts shall be disclosed, that if either of you knows any impediment, why ye may not be lawfully joined together in Matrimony, ye do now confess it,"
Callum shook his head. He wanted to tell the priest and the audience that there could not possibly be any impediment in his mind regarding getting married to her as she was the one woman who he did not mind losing it all for.
Instead, he simply said, "There is no impediment."
Louise said the same thing.
"Callum Madsen, will thou have this Woman to thy wedded Wife, to live together after God’s ordinance in the holy estate of Matrimony? Wilt thou love her, comfort her, honor, and keep her in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all other, keep thee only unto her, so long as ye both shall live?"the priest asked.
Callum nodded. "I will."
The same question was asked of Louise and she responded in a similar vein.
After this, Callum took the ring and said his vows as he slipped it into Louise's finger as the final act that cemented his marriage to her.
They knelt and the priest blessed their union.
Throughout the prayer session, however, Callum's eyes were trained intently on his wife as hers was on him.
The rest of the wedding ceremony passed in a blur because the only thing that Callum paid attention to was his wife.
After the Priest was finally done, they and the other witnesses signed the register.
Soon enough, Callum and his wife were boarding the carriage that would take them back home to their wedding breakfast.
It was not until Callum helped his wife into the carriage and hopped in from the other end that they finally had a moment of privacy.
"I could not take my eyes off you today," he said to her, and his eyes flitted to her bosom.
