Thoughts fled out of Paige’s head as she became honed on the places where their bodies connected. Her skin tingled and flushed, her face warmed, and the way Josh rubbed against her was just right. With a little more pressure, a little more, a little more…

Josh leaned up suddenly, grabbed Paige’s face, and kissed her hard. The curve of his body gave her the friction she needed, and suddenly everything flew apart. Distantly, she heard Josh groan. He threw his arms around her and held her close as they rode out their pleasure together.

As she floated back into her body and settled on Josh’s chest, she thought, well, maybe she was awkward when it came to spontaneity, but they definitely had passion.

“So good,” Josh panted.

Paige snuggled against him. “I’m really glad I came over.”

“Me, too. But hold that thought.”

Josh got out of bed and disappeared from the bedroom for a moment. There was something inefficient about the bathroom being on the other side of the apartment, but when Josh returned, still fully naked, Paige admired both that he had no apparent shame about his body and that he was still naked now.

He climbed back into bed and took her into his arms. “Okay, you were saying?”

She laughed. “Is this the part of the postcoital glow where we tell each other how awesome the other was?”

“If you like. I think you’re awesome all the time, though.”

Paige couldn’t help but smile at that.

Thiswasgood, whatever was between them. Everything Paige had been looking for, in fact. They could talk, they could laugh, they could have amazing sex. And Josh liked and respected her, had never suggested she be anything other than what she was. She didn’t want to change him, either. Well, she wanted him to work less, but she understood why he couldn’t.

He stroked her hair now, and she closed her eyes, loving the sensation of that.

“So, ah, can I ask you something?” Josh said, a little sleepily.

“Anything.”

“You’re not seeing anyone else, are you?”

“No.”

“So are we, like, a couple?”

Paige couldn’t read his tone. “Is that what you want?”

“I mean, yeah. It is. It wasn’t what I thought I would want at this point in my life, but I also didn’t picture meeting someone as great as you are.”

“I think you’re great, too. I have such a good time when I’m with you. And not just in bed.”

Josh kissed her temple. “I know about…well, everything else. And I’m not asking for a serious commitment. But maybe you could…not see other people some more.”

Paige lifted herself up on her elbows so that she could look at Josh’s face. He looked so earnest. She still wasn’t at all confident that she could pull this off, and this still felt like an enormous risk given everything going on in their lives, but she also knew she hadn’t felt this way about a guy…well, ever, really. She smiled. “I’m good with that.”

He smiled back. “Cool. You know, I never did get that post-gym shower in. I still kinda want to do that before I fall asleep. You want to, her, give me a hand?”

She laughed. “Sure. I’ll…give you ahand.”

“Is that a sexy pun?”

“If you have to ask…”

He laughed and got out of bed. “You’re the best. Come on.”

Chapter 15

Paige did not understand how something so small could make so much noise.
