He pulls out his phone.“Looks like our Uber’s here.”
A car pulls up, and we climb in, the ride is quiet as we process our conversation. When we reach my apartment building, Landon pays despite my offer to cover it with my next paycheck. He just laughs it off, telling me to forget about it.
Inside, Landon heads straight for the couch, dropping onto it with a contented sigh and grabbing the remote.
“Don’t think I’ve forgotten about that hot customer you were batting eyelashes at today,” Landon calls as I head to my room.“You owe me the full story.Including what happened last night at the party. The full deets. But first, you’re gonna have to make your infamous spaghetti.I’ve been dreaming about it a lot.”
I laugh, rolling my eyes as I disappear into my room. It’s going to be a long night of questions and spaghetti, but it feels good to have Landon here.
“Wait, you mean Fox actually fucking kissed you, then told you to act like nothing happened and not tell anyone?”Landon gasps, his eyes wide. We’re in the kitchen, me cooking spaghetti while he watches—naturally, without offering to help.“That’s brutal, man.”
“I think he just panicked, since he’s, you know, straight.”I don’t even know why I’m defending him. That was a total jerk move.
“And he even cock-blocked you?Elias is seriously hot, you know.”Landon raises his eyebrows, making me chuckle.
“I still don’t get why Fox would get all possessive because you were about to kiss someone else—a total stranger, which by the way, was risky, my friend. Then he says something harsh, drags you home and kisses you again. That’s messed up.It’s like he doesn’t want you to be with anyone else, but he doesn’t want to be with you either.Major douche move,” Landon sighs, munching on a bag of Fox’s chips.
“Speaking of, you’re eating his chips,” I point out.Landon freezes mid-bite before shrugging, and I burst out laughing.
“Yeah, well, fuck him.He can’t have everything.Consider this payback for hurting you.”
“I’m not hurt,” I say, though I can’t look him in the eyes.
“Oh, you’re hurt. And that’s okay.Your roommate, who also happens to be hot, just stole your first kiss and then acted like a jerk.”
I sigh, turning down the heat and putting the lid on the pot.
“You want to kiss him again, don’t you?”Landon says with a knowing smirk.
I bite the inside of my cheek, pretending not to hear him.
“When are you going to admit you have a crush on Fox?”
“He’s not even crush-worthy.He’s an asshole.”
“You want him to be your asshole, though,” Landon says, grinning.
“Please, God, no.”I feel my cheeks heating up.Do I?I don’t think so.Fox can be decent sometimes, but he’s mostly a pain.
“Come on.A straight guy doesn’t just kiss another guy, not for any reason.Plus, I see the way he looks at you sometimes when he thinks no one’s watching.”
“Don’t say that! You’re putting ideas in my head, and I’ll probably dream about it now.”I push my glasses up into my hair, covering my eyes for a moment to compose myself.
Landon’s watching me, his expression turning thoughtful.“So, what’s the plan? How are you going to handle this?”
“Avoid him.”
“You can’t avoid Fox, Cam.He’s literally your roommate.”
“That’s why I need to avoid him.We can’t make things more awkward than they already are.Fox doesn’t like me.He’s just bi-curious, and I happen to be the only openly gay guy in his circle.”
I switch off the stove, grabbing two plates to dish out the pasta.
“I just wish he’d be man enough to admit if he’s interested,” Landon sighs dramatically.
“You read too many romance novels,” I tease, laughing with him.
Just then, my phone buzzes on the counter.I pick it up, and my heart skips—it’s a message from an unknown number.
