Take Off Your Pants

"What'sshedoinghere?"Fox growls, rubbing his face with one hand.

I sigh, hastily shoving my legs into my pants.Grabbing the nearest shirt, I throw it on, buttoning it haphazardly without bothering to check if the buttons line up.

"You’re gonna be okay, alright?"Fox smirks at me, his calm demeanor almost infuriating.

I groan."How can you be this composed after we just got cock-blocked?"I grab my phone, which won’t stop ringing—of course, it’s my mom.

"I’ll go answer the door," I mutter, muting the call.

Fox pulls me back, his lips brushing against my forehead in a soft kiss.

"She’d better have a good reason for showing up.And hopefully, she won’t stay long.I still need to be inside you," he whispers, his hand grabbing my butt through my jeans and pulling me close enough to feel his erection.

I draw in a shaky breath, but my phone rings again, breaking the moment.I jerk away from him.

"I’ll be in the living room," I mutter, hurrying out of his room. His laughter follows me down the hall.

As I approach the front door, I take a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves. My phone is still ringing, my mom’s name lighting up the screen.I open the door to find her standing there, looking furious.

"Mom," I say, forcing a nervous smile.

She shakes her head in disappointment and shoulders past me into the apartment.I close the door behind her, already dreading the conversation to come.

"What exactly were you doing that took you almost forty minutes to answer the door?"she snaps, dropping her bag on the couch and crossing her arms.

"Well, uh, Fox and I were trying to fix the air conditioner. It stopped working a few hours ago," I lie, hoping she won’t press further.

"Fox?Your arrogant roommate?"she asks, glancing around the apartment as if expecting to find evidence of chaos.

"Yeah, but he’s not arrogant," I say quickly, even though it’s not entirely true."Why are you here, Mom?You didn’t tell me you were coming."

"I need to call my own son before visiting him?Newsflash, Cameron, I don’t need permission to check on you—especially when you’ve been ignoring my calls," she retorts, her tone sharp.

I stifle a groan. She drove all this way without giving me a heads-up?What happened to respecting personal space?

"You should’ve called, Mom.What if I wasn’t home?"

"It’s Saturday, not a school day, and you’re not exactly the social butterfly type. The chances of you being out are slim," she fires back.

"Actually, I was planning to go out with my friends."

She raises an eyebrow."What friends?"

Before I can respond, Fox’s voice echoes down the hall."Cam?"

Mom and I turn to see him emerging, his unruly hair neatly combed and his white long-sleeve shirt replacing the dress shirt he had on earlier. He looks put together, like nothing out of the ordinary just happened.

"Hi.Good day, ma’am," Fox greets politely, his charm turned up to full volume.

"Hello," Mom says, her irritation momentarily replaced by surprise. She smiles at him—smiles."You must be his roommate."

"Yes, ma’am.I’m Fox Wilder.Nice to meet you, Mrs.Brooke," he says, flashing one of his killer smiles.
