“Areyoutwoseriouslydating now?”Landon asks, leaning closer, his tone a mix of disbelief and curiosity. My smoothie cup sits empty in front of me, courtesy of him.
“Yeah,” I say, trying to sound casual.“He asked me to be his boyfriend.”
“Holy shit,” they whisper in unison, their eyes wide with surprise.
“I can’t believe this,” Nat says, shaking her head.“So you’re Fox Wilder’s boyfriend now?Wow.I didn’t even know he was gay.”
“He’s not,” I reply simply.
“Well, nobody gives a shit,” Landon says with a sly grin.“At least he’s gay for you.You know what I mean.”
Everyone chuckles, and I can’t help but smile.
“I’m really happy for you, Cam,” Leanne says earnestly.“As long as he doesn’t treat you wrong anymore, you’ve got my blessing.”
“Yeah, me too, son,” Landon quips, throwing an arm around my shoulder.
I elbow him in the ribs.“Don’t call me that.”
“Ow!Fuck,” he groans, rubbing his side as the girls laugh.
“Wow, this is so unbelievable,” Nat says, leaning in closer.“But… what about Lexi?”
“What about Lexi?”I lower my voice to match hers.
“I don’t know,” Nat whispers, glancing around the café.“She’s clingy. And evil.”
“Lexi’s not a problem,” Landon says, dismissing her with a wave.“They’re done.I think she’s fucking Carter now.”
“She is,” I sigh, rolling my eyes.“But she was at our apartment yesterday, trying to convince Fox to take her back.”
“What a desperate little bitch,” Leanne mutters, shaking her head.
“Doesn’t matter,” Landon says, his tone turning playful.“What matters is you are the one who stole Fox’s heart.Desperate bitches like Lexi don’t stand a chance.”
I smile at that. It’s true.Fox had been crystal clear with Lexi—he wasn’t going back to her.
Nat smirks, shifting her gaze to Leanne.“Speaking of desperate straights turning gay, are you sure you’re all that straight, Leanne?”she purrs, resting her chin on her hand.
Leanne blinks, clearly caught off guard. She opens her mouth to respond when—
“Hey, baby,” a voice says, and Jeremy, Leanne’s boyfriend, leans in to kiss her cheek.
“Hey,” Leanne greets him with a bright smile.Jeremy turns to us, looking slightly awkward.
“Uh… hey, guys.Hi, Cameron.”
“Hi,” I reply politely, joined by Landon and Nat.
Leanne grabs her bag, looping it over her shoulder as Jeremy slips a protective arm around her waist.
“I gotta go, guys,” she says, throwing a quick, awkward smile at Nat.“See you around.”
We watch them leave, and as soon as they’re out of earshot, Landon rounds on Nat.
“Really, Nat?”he snaps.
“What?”Nat shrugs, leaning back in her chair.“She’s pretty.”
