“All you thought about was…?”Fox’s voice is a low rumble, and I feel him before I see him.
His arms wrap around my waist from behind, and he nuzzles into my neck, his warmth seeping into me.
“All I thought about was you,” I admit softly, letting the words hang in the air.
Fox tightens his hold, his lips brushing against my ear as he whispers, “I’m sorry.I’m not the best person, and I know I’ve hurt you.But I’m glad—so glad—you didn’t date that little shit Elias.”
I turn in his arms, shooting him a warning glare.“You can’t call him that.It wasn’t his fault, really.”
Fox rolls his eyes but doesn’t argue.“He never deserved you.No one does. Not even me.”His voice softens as his hand cups my cheek.“You’re too perfect for this world, Cam.”
Before I can respond, he leans in and kisses me.It’s light, but it sparks the familiar fire that spreads through my body whenever we’re close.
“You’re mine, Cam,” he murmurs, his lips ghosting over my neck, leaving a trail of warmth.
I shiver under his touch, tilting my head to meet his gaze.“And you’re mine, Fox.”
A lazy, satisfied smile spreads across his face. His lips brush my earlobe, and he bites it gently, pulling a small gasp from me before whispering,
“Always have been.Always will be.”
“Is it too late to quit school and escape to Dubai, maybe marry a ridiculously sexy Arabian man?”Leanne says, scraping her thumbnail against her teeth in mock desperation.
I chuckle.“Pretty sure Jeremy wouldn’t like that idea.”
Leanne huffs dramatically.“Please.”She groans into her palm, slumping forward.
“Is it your assignment again?”I ask, glancing at her half-empty folder.
“That, and literally everything to do with school.I’m not even a junior yet, and I’m already thinking of giving up.”Her elbows rest on the table, cupping her cheeks in defeat.
“I can still help if you want,” I offer, giving her a small smile.
She perks up instantly.“Aww.Always the sweetheart, aren’t you?”She smirks, raising an eyebrow.I roll my eyes at her teasing.
It’s Monday—the universal nemesis of students everywhere. My day’s already been hectic.I haven’t seen or talked to Landon or Nat since our schedules don’t overlap. And Fox?I only caught a glimpse of him this morning when he drove us to campus, and since then, nothing.
“Well, thank you for the offer, darling.I’m not turning it down.”Leanne slides the folder across the table toward me.“You can take it home later and work your magic.”
I chuckle, flipping through the pages.“Sure thing.”
Leanne sighs dramatically and twists the cap off her water bottle.
“So, how was your weekend? You and Fox finally a couple now?”she asks nonchalantly.
My head snaps up.“Me and who?”
She tips her head toward the far end of the cafeteria.I follow her gaze and—damn—there he is.
When did he even get here?As usual, Fox is with Blaze.Blaze is glued to his phone, saying something to Fox, who’s chuckling as he types on his own screen. As if sensing someone’s watching him, Fox raises his head, and his gaze lands squarely on me.
I bite my lip, feeling my cheeks warm.He winks.
Leanne laughs softly.“Well, that was telling.”
“Shut up,” I mutter, looking away quickly.
“You wanna explain what’s going on here?Last time we were sitting here, you and Fox had an argument, and you told him you were seeing someone. Now you two are suddenly… friends?”
