“Why would he avoid you because of that?Have you tried talking to him?”

“I haven’t,” I admit.

“Cam, you know a lot can be resolved with a conversation.”

“Fox isn’t exactly the type to talk things out,” I mutter, glancing down at the table.

Leanne starts to reply, but her gaze shifts behind me, and her expression changes.“Well, speaking of Fox…”

I freeze, my heart sinking.

Why is he here?

I turn to see him entering the café with a blonde girl. She’s tall, stunning, and the jealousy hits me like a punch to the gut. They sit in a booth across the room, and like always, he doesn’t notice me—or pretends not to.

“Maybe you should talk to him,” Leanne suggests, her voice soft but insistent.

“Maybe I shouldn’t,” I snap, turning back to face her.

She raises an eyebrow.“You’re clearly upset. The boy you like is acting like an asshole because he doesn’t know how to handle his feelings.Talk to him. What’s the worst that could happen?”

I sigh, knowing she’s right but dreading the idea all the same.

“Fine,” I mutter, standing up.“Wish me luck.”

“Luck is for losers,” she teases, grinning.

I manage a weak chuckle before taking a deep breath and heading toward Fox’s booth. He looks up as I approach, his surprise evident.

“A word?”I say, ignoring the blonde entirely.

“Now?”

“Now,” I reply, my glare daring him to refuse.

He sighs, standing without a word to his companion. He walks toward the restroom, and I follow, shutting the door behind us once we’re inside.

He turns to me, his expression guarded.“Well?”

“Why are you avoiding the apartment?”I demand, cutting straight to the point.

Fox sighs.“What do you want, Cam?”

“Answers!I want answers, Fox!”

He smirks, a quiet laugh escaping his lips as he steps closer.“You know, being bossy doesn’t suit you.”

He’s too close now—close enough that I can feel his warmth.

“Why are you being shitty?”I ask, trying to hold my ground.

“Shouldn’t you be with Elias?Isn’t he your boyfriend now?”

I blink, stunned.That’s why he’s avoiding me?

“Are you jealous?”I ask, crossing my arms.

He scoffs.“Of you?Or your wimpy boyfriend?Dream on, Cam.”
