Her body writhed, desperate for more. Desperate forme.

“Yes,” she breathed quietly, and my dark heart constricted, a warmth unlike anything I’d ever felt seeping into me.

I pushed two fingers into her body, my teeth grazing her clit, and she cried out.

I relished that I could make her feel like this. That I could suck on her clit without having to worry about the irresistible desire to sink my fangs into her thigh and drag her blood into my mouth.

I teased and pleasured her relentlessly until she was almost sobbing with the need for release.

“I want to hear my name on your lips when you come,” I told her.

“Please,” she begged again.

“Say it,” I said, my voice hard. “Say my name, Raine.”

She swallowed, her face destroyed by desire, and when my teeth grazed her clit again, my fingers fucking into her so fast I was like a devil possessed, she shattered.

“Locke,” she cried out, pleasure demanding everything from her. I kept going until her body stilled, the aftershocks giving way to exhaustion, and she slumped back, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she let out panting breaths.

As I moved from between her legs and came up beside her, she stared at me, her eyes surprised but sated. I couldn’t help myself then. I brushed the hair from her face, tucking a strand behind her ear. She stilled at my touch, but she didn’t move away. She just stared at me, like she wasn’t sure what I would do next.

My beautiful Raine. The adjusted nickname sounded in my head, feeling way too right. She was becoming my light in the darkness, and with every moment she remained close to me, I was finding it harder to deny my feelings for her. I was beginning to realize that this female was mine, and I didn’t know how the fuck she was going to survive me when I was a vampire again.

“Locke, there’s something else I need to tell you,” she said, breaking the silence between us. “Something I’ve already told the others.”

I tensed, my mind going straight to the information the fae had spilled about our bonds. Ihadonly been searching for a way to break our bonds just nights ago. Raine needed to be free of us, but…I didn’t want to let her go. The idea that she might have broken it without telling us, that she could have left us, had me wanting to rage, as irrational as it was.

“We should make the choice about our bonds together. The five of us,” I said.

She was silent for a moment, but then she added carefully, “It’s not that. It’s about my sister.”

CHAPTER 8

~ Raine ~

It was night when we left the safety of the cave behind the waterfall and risked venturing back into the forest. A part of me wished we could have stayed where we were. We hadn’t exactly been safe there, but for a short while, I’d been able to simply enjoy the company of the four males.

Locke walked beside me, paying attention to the forest around us, but I could still feel his hands on my skin and his tongue between my legs.

“It’s too quiet,” Kade said with a scowl, one hand gripping Prince Azaren, who was slung over his shoulder. “I don’t know how humans survive. It’s like I’m walking around deaf and blind.”

“Sometimes silence is bliss,” I responded with a shrug.

Kade didn’t look convinced. “We won’t hear the dazra until they’re already upon us.”

“Just keep alert and put your head down if you hear any buzzing,” Locke said.

Right. Don’t look the dazra in the eyes,I reminded myself.

We moved slower than we had before the dazra attack, but by some miracle, hours passed and we didn’t encounter any of the giant insects. I was busy staring at the never-ending trees when something unusual caught my eye. I frowned, moving closer to the tree to get a better look, but when I realized what I was looking at, I jumped back in fright.

“Whoa there, sweetheart. There are easier ways to get my attention,” Asher chuckled, catching me before I slammed into him. “Say my name and I’m there,” he said with a lopsided smile.

I grinned back at him before tipping my head toward the tree I’d been looking at.

“Well, that is…surprising,” Darian said, tightening his grip on the fae books as he moved closer to inspect the tree.

I slid from Asher’s arms to step up beside Darian. “That’s not… A fae wasn’t trapped in the tree, were they?” I asked with a grimace.
