I shake my head as tears begin to spill over.
“You are her,” Ryder tells me. “What happened with you two?”
More tears fall like a river down my face. “I told him I was pregnant.”
Ryder’s head snaps back with shock. “Come again?”
“I’m pregnant.”
“Fuck,” Ryder hisses.
“He got his girl pregnant, andhis dad just died. That’s what set him off all right.”
“Stating the obvious, are you now, Hayes?” Bastian snaps.
The guy, Hayes, looks him over with a grin that seems anything but friendly.
But it’s what he said that has my attention. “Mr. Masters died? When?”
“According to Callie’s social media, it was around six last night.”
My hands fly to my mouth. That would’ve been right before I told him. He was in shock from his father’s death, and I dropped another bomb on him.
“We have to figure out where he went,” Dane says calmly, trying to keep the situation under control.
“I’ve already called all his favorite haunts,” Bastian tells them.
“There has to be somewhere else we’re not thinking of,” Ryder suggests.
“Maybe you should call Bryan,” I tell them, as desperation fills me. He has to be okay. He has to be.
They all look at me like I’ve lost my mind. “He doesn’t have a friend named Bryan,” Ryder tells me with worry filling his voice.
My brows fall between my eyes. “Of course he does. He’s told me about him.Bryan Michaels”
“Look, love, I’ve known Mads since I was twelve. I knowallhis friends. There is no Bryan.”
“Isn’t that the name he gives when he wants to check into restaurants or hotels incognito?” Hayes asks.
“Yeah. He uses it because it’s his middle name. Maddox Bryan Michael Masters.” Dane answers.
“Oh fuck,” Bastian hisses. “Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.”
“What?” Ryder asks, now fully panicking.
“I think I know where he is. Son of bitch, the motherfucker lied to me.”
“What’s wrong, Bastian?” I ask as my stomach flips with worry, nausea growing by the second.
“Quinn, Jewel named Maddox after her father and brother. His grandfather..The same grandfather that killed himself. The same one that heard voices.William Bryan Michael Masters II and III.I just didn’t...” He shakes his headwith disbelief. “There is no Bryan.””
“Are you trying to say Maddox hears voices?” Hayes asks with furrowed brows.
Bastian lifts a finger as he pulls out his phone. “Chris, we can’t find Maddox. Is he there? No, I need you to check your grandparents’ place. He’ll have my bike. Yeah, that’s the one. Yeah. Okay. We’re coming.”
He hangs up the phone; his eyes radiate fear and concern like I’ve never seen in Bastian.
“We need to go,” he tells Ryder.
