Since I haven’t had a fix in almost three weeks, other needs have made themselves known. When I was high, I never knew when I would end up with a fantastic case of coke dick. Or which version I would get. The one where I couldn’t get it up or the one where I couldn’t get off. Both sucked, but not enough to deter my next hit.
Then again, it could also be Quinn. We haven’t said a word to each other since the other day outside her bedroom. We’ve also managed a meticulous dance of avoidance, somehow managing to completely evade one another until Verity had supper ready. Even then, if we could help it, we didn’t cross paths.
Bastian was suspicious, even cornering me to ask what I did. I wanted to punch him in the face for not minding his own business. I never realized how nosey he was before. Maybe Zane has worn off on him.
I’ve had a perpetual hard-on for days. No matter how many times I take care of it, it won’t go away.
I guess I could’ve gone to the Playpen, Bastain’s kink club, but somehow I ended up here. Which will actually help nothing since they have a strict hands-off-the-talent policy. But Delaney and I have been friendly in the past, and I see she’s working this side tonight.
I catch her attention with a nod. Her face lights in a sexy grin as she struts her way to me. “Well, hello, stranger. I heard you were in town.”
“I bet you did,” I scoff with an eye roll. “I see you’re still working here.”
Delaney and I have known each other for years. I met her during my short stint at Sacred Heart after my near two-year-long expulsion fromboarding school.During her first year of college, her father got arrested for corporate espionage, and the lifestyle she knew came crashing down. Somehow, she ended up working here at Red and never left. Although I hear Rory and Bastian pay well and take care of their employees like they’re family, so I suppose that could be why she stayed, even after graduating from Loyola.
“I like the new hair.” I nod to the long, cherry red ponytail hanging down to her waist. “It’s sexy as hell.”
She wraps it around her hand with a grin as she comes closer. Once she’s within arm’s reach, I grab her, pulling her to my lap. She throws her head back with a laugh. “Still just taking what you want?”
I shake my head. “I only take what I know I can have.” She throws her arms around me in a tight hug. I notice Tristan glaring holes into both of us from across the room. “Still making him chase you?”
“I don’t make him do anything. If he chases me, it’s his choice.” Her tone is light, but there is no missing the irritation. It’s a touchy subject that I always touch.
“It’s been years. Don’t you think it’s time to give him another chance?”
She leans back from me with disbelief etched over her pretty, angular face. “He was screwing everything that moved while we were together. Why should I give him another chance?”
“You told me yourself that neither of you ever claimed any sort of exclusivity.”
“Yeah. We didn’t. That still didn’t give him the right to pretend I was nothing in front of everyone either.”
“He looks ready to explode.” I can’t help but laugh at Tristan as his green eyes shoot daggers at me. His jaw is clenched so tightly his teeth are probably crumbling.
“Let him explode,” she smirks.
I lean forward, dipping my head down to her ear. I intentionally make it look like more is going on than there is as I grip her hips, pulling her tighter against me. “You still like making him jealous?”
“I live for it,” she says as she looks over her shoulder to the object of her disdain with a smile. She winds her fingers around my neck, coming in close. “It’s my favorite part of this job.”
I bite my lip to keep another laugh from passing my lips. We won’t be very convincing if I guffaw for the room to hear.
After another few minutes of conversation and brilliant acting, she finally stands so she can get back to work. “What can I get you to drink, Mads?”
“I’m sure the warden has given you the dirt.”
“They have. He’s just trying to help, Mads.”
“Everyone is always trying to save me,” I chuckle. “One of these days, they’ll realize I’m not worth saving.”
Her sincere eyes meet mine, “Maddox, if no one in this world is worth saving, you are. I’ll bring you a water.”
“Thanks, Delaney.”
A few minutes later, she returns with a couple bottles of water and a wink for the man still watching. He’s probably supposed to be watching me. I know he’s called Bastian. Just like I know Bastian told him to keep his green eyes on me for the night.
But it wasn’t me he was watching. It was the every move of the scarlet lady openly flirting with me every chance she got.
I could only laugh. The guy had it bad and, apparently, was relentless.
