“Fourteen weeks,” she smiles. “We didn’t want to say anything until after the first trimester.”
“Do you know what it is yet?”
She shakes her head with a smile.“Not yet.We haven’t been able to decide if we want to know.”
I nod with a smile as I admire a stunning champagne-coloreddress. It’s heavily beaded with fringe at the bust and feathers at the hem. The spaghetti straps and sweetheart necklineaccentuate the shape of it to perfection.
“You should try that on,” Cami tells me. “It would look amazing on you.”
Josephine nods in agreement. “It would go amazingly with thosegold sandals you were admiring.”
I touch the dress, loving the feel of the beads as they fall through my fingers. “It’s kind of heavy, don’t you think?” I ask them both.
“I think you should try it on,” Cami says again.
Awoman appears at our side with a wide smile. “Your friends are right,” she saysin a heavy French accent. “This dress would be amazing against your skin and hair.”
“You don’t think it would wash me out?” I ask the three of them. “It is kind of the same shade as my hair."
"Try. It. On." Cami tells me one more time.
I look to the saleswoman, who gives me a nod.
“Okay, I will.”
I buy the dress, shoes, and a few accessories, spending more on the single outfit than I spent on all my other purchases combined, but I refuse to feel guilty. I haven’t splurged on myself in a long time. The allowance Dane has given me every month for years has done nothing but build over the last couple of years.
The dress makes me want to have my hair done. It’s well overdue for a trim. I tell this to the girls, and they agree with wide grins.
My trim turns into a full-blown cut.My waist-length locks now fall to the middle of my back in soft layers.A few lighter pieces were added to emphasize the shade.
“Cara, you’ve always been beautiful, but now you look like a model,” Josephine tells me, smiling.
“You look older,” Cami nods, “but in agood way. You look all grown up now.”
I feel myself flush at their compliments. “I needed a change,” I admit. “I just have no idea when I’m going to wear this.” I gesture to the dress bag.
“The guys do have the night off,”Josephine states.
I can’t help but laugh. “Theydo, but that doesn’t help me. I’m the nanny, remember?”
“Angel and I can watch Lyra while you get that man of yours to take you out,” she volunteers.
“We can all go. Well, except for you two, if you’re keeping Lyra,” Cami nods. You can practically see the wheels turning in her head. She pulls out her phone, texting, who I only assume to be Dane.
“Maddox says he’s on it,” Cami tells me.
“That’s who you were texting?” I laugh.
“If you want to have a night of fun, you tell Maddox or Ryder,” she shrugs. “If you want a night in, then I tell Dane. Now come on. We need to get ready.”
When we get back to the hotel, Cami chases everyone out of our room. All the guys, except for Maddox, look at us like we’ve lost our minds.Josephine keeps Lyra entertained while Cami and Iget ready.
Cami decides on a white, asymmetrical Bodycon dress that looks amazing against her olive skin and dark hair. Hersmokey eyes get lined with a bit of kohl for dramatic effect. She straightens her waves then pulls her hair into a high ponytail, creating an elongating effect.
I keep my eyes neutral with a bit of wing liner. I apply a touch of shimmer to my cheekbonesand keep my lips nude.I keep my hair down around my shoulder in soft waves, leaving my new style on display.
“The guys are back,” Josephine says as she peeks her head in the room. When she seesus, her eyes get misty. “You are both beautiful.”
