“Williams,” I help by supplying my last name.

“Yup, Williams,” he agrees. “Marry me and teach me all about love so I can write the best wedding speech ever?”

I laugh again because this whole thing is entirely too absurd. “It might take more than a day or two to teach you all about love,” I point out.

He shrugs. “We’ll be married—it won’t matter how long it takes.”

Daniel holds the ring a little higher, the most earnest and endearing expression I’ve ever seen on his face. My heart stutters and since the rational side of my brain doesn’t seem interested in waking up from the tequila haze to raise any objections, I take the ring.

“Sure, what the hell.”

“Woot,” he shouts, attempting to get to his feet and failing. I reach down to help him up, and he giggles, leaning against me for support. “Did you hear that? He said ‘what the hell’,” he declares to the nearest person, who eyes us with amusement.

“Come on, let’s call an Uber and go get married.”

Daniel

I don’t have a history of making the best drunken decisions, but this one feels pretty solid. I give myself a mental pat on theback while Ollie fills out the paperwork for us. Tilting my head to the side, I take a second to appreciate the view. Ollie is so freaking hot, and after he said all those nice things about me, it’s been hard to remember why I always resisted commitment.

He’d never hurt me like everyone else has. He could be my Cole. A warm feeling fills me. It’s the kind of feeling I’d push away or shrug off if I was sober, but I’m drunk and it feelsniiiiice, so I let myself bask in it.

“Cole and Ren are so in love. Do you think we could be like that?” I ask wistfully, looking down at the ring already on my finger. Did I put it on too soon? I’m supposed to wait for the ceremony, right? But if I take it off, I might risk losing it. Better leave it where it is.

“More,” Ollie answers, and my normally frigid heart goes all squishy. Yup, best decision ever.

Speaking of Ren, I should totally call him. I pull my phone out, squinting at it and trying to get the screen to hold still so I can hit the right button. How many hands and how many phones do I actually have? I blindly mash the screen until something happens.

“I should call Ren and tell him to come down here. Shit, I think this thing is recording. Oh, I can send it to Ren!” I giggle and hiccup. “Rennnnnnnn, I know you’re probably balls deep in your man, or vice versa, but Ollie and I are at the Little White Wedding Chapel, and you should totally come down here and watch us get married. Oh my god, bring Cole too. He should see his brother get married. Can you bring rice to throw? Fuck, do we have rice to throw at their wedding?”

Ollie notices I’m on the phone and turns around to slip into the shot with me.

“You’re not supposed to throw rice. We’re going to get bubbles,” he says.

Huh, who knew?

“Bubbles! Ren, bring bubbles!” I start laughing again, and Ollie joins in this time, his body shaking with the sound just like mine is.

“Williams and McKean, we’re ready for you,” the dude behind the counter says.

“Dang, they’re calling our name, I have to go. Hey, this means you and me are going to be brother-in-laws. Brothers-in-law? Brother-ins-laws?”

I mash the screen again until it goes blank, and then IthinkI manage to send it to Ren. Either way, I shove my phone into my pocket and take the arm Ollie’s holding out for me.

My phone starts to vibrate in my pocket, but I ignore it, taking the bouquet the dude is offering me.

“Let’s not be all weird and traditional. We should walk down the aisle together,” I decide.

“Sounds good,” he agrees.

“We’re going to besogood at being married.”

“I have plenty of practice,” he jokes, and we both cackle, laughing the entire way down the aisle.

When we reach the altar, I remember the ring issue. “Oh shit, here.” I take off my ring and hand it to Ollie, and he does the same.

We both follow along, repeating after the officiant when we’re told to. It’s a good thing he goes slowly because there are alotof words we’re supposed to remember to say. Are weddings always this long? Or maybe this has been quick? I can’t really tell anymore.

“I now pronounce you married. You may kiss.”
