Iflung myself into Dimitri’s arms as he changed. He wrapped his arms around me, held me against him in a tight embrace, and kissed the top of my head.
“I’m so glad you’re okay,” I whispered into his chest.
He tensed and let out a sarcastic laugh. “You’re happy about me being okay? Sunshine, you were the one in danger, not me.”
“I was so worried about...” I swallowed hard as tears pricked my eyes. “I was worried what happened to your father would happen to you.”
Dimitri leaned away and tipped my head back with a finger curled under my chin. Despite his haughty expression, his eyes held gentleness as he gazed at me. “I don’t think you give me enough credit for my powers,” he said, and the corner of his lip curled into a smirk. “Baby, I’ve destroyed villages, towns, and cities in my long life. I’ve slaughtered demon hunters and their families. I’m the son of a very powerful warlord who passed down not only his title but his powers and knowledge.” He cocked his head. “Do you understand?”
My pulse picked up, and I stared at him with round eyes. I hadn’t thought too much about his father being a warlord. It made sense now that I’d let it sink in. My god, Dimitri was a powerful warlord. I couldn’t see him as that since he’d always been my boss, who had a cozy job as a lawyer.
“Emma?” he asked, his fingers pinching my chin.
I blinked out of my stupor and nodded. “I understand.”
He stared at me, his eyes flicking as he searched my face for a sign that his words had troubled me. When he didn’t find it, he leaned down and kissed me. It differed from Daimon’s kiss. It was gentle and full of passion—which was new for a man like Dimitri, who had always been rough around the edges. He stole the air from my lungs and breathed back into me. Goosebumps rose on my arms and legs as his fingers tangled with my hair to hold me close to him. He angled my head for better access and nipped my bottom lip. My knees gave out and the only reason I still stood was because he held me up as he caught me with his arm around my waist. I whimpered as his erection pressed against my stomach. He ground his hips against me, letting me feel what I’d done to him.
Dimitri picked me up, forcing me to wrap my legs around his narrow waist. I didn’t know where he was taking me, but I didn’t care. All that mattered was him and this everlasting kiss. I put all of my feelings into it, hoping he’d know how much I loved him. Cool sheets and the pillow-soft mattress pressed against my back. He adjusted us until he was between my legs. I gasped into his mouth as he easily slipped his cock inside me.
“Mm. So wet for me,” he said. “Are you going to let me mark you now?”
“Yes!” I arched my back and leaned my head back. I met each hard thrust with a rock of my hips. His movements started slowly but picked up as he lost control. The headboard slapped against the wall, much like our flesh clapping together.
Dimitri buried his face in my neck, his warm breaths fanning against my already heated skin. I whined when he fisted my hair and jerked my head in an angle that allowed him more room as he scraped his teeth over my sensitive flesh.
“It’ll only hurt for a second, baby,” he murmured.
“I don’t care! Please!” It felt like I would die if he didn’t leave his mark on me. I needed it so fucking bad, and I couldn’t make any sense out ofwhyI needed it.
Dimitri placed his free hand on the pillow beside my head to hold himself up as he continued to piston into me. I shrieked as his teeth pierced my neck and he let out an animalistic sound.
His teeth disappeared and the wound stung from the cool air. He swiped his warm tongue over the bite marks and groaned as his movements lost their rhythm. After a few more strokes, he snarled and rocked into me harder as he flooded my core with his hot cum. He stilled and put more of his weight on me as he relaxed.
It stayed quiet between us for a while, and I played with his damp hair. He shuddered and his cock jerked inside me, hardening again, but he didn’t move. A smile crept to my face as it sank in that the love of my life had marked me as his. It felt like the final stroke on a painting. Dimitri was my everything, and it’d been a wild few months since meeting him. I pinched my eyebrows together as I realized I hadn’t told Dimitri that I got my memories back. I smiled and twirled a strand of his hair around my finger.
“I remember everyth—”
“Marry me.”
It took me a second to register what he’d said.
Dimitri pushed up on his hands and looked down at me with narrowed eyes. “What did you say?”
I gazed at him with my jaw slackened. “Did you propose to me?”
“Yes. But what did you say?”
I blinked and shook my head to gather my wits. “I—” I swallowed hard and tried to slow down my heart. “I got my memories back.”
Dimitri stared at me with no emotion.
I sank further into the mattress and averted my gaze, my cheeks burning. “Are you, are you upset with me?”
“I’m not upset with you. I’m...I’m at a loss for words because I never thought you’d get them back. But I’m glad. So glad.”
I tucked some of his hair behind his ear. “Now it’s your turn. Did you just propose to me?”
He smiled, and his eyes darkened. “I did.”
