He doesn’t answer for a long moment but finally moves his arm so he can roll over onto his side to face me. “Okay. What’s up?”

I don’t know why I’m suddenly nervous. It’s not like we’ve never thought about having children. I’ve mentioned it more than once, so what I have to say shouldn’t come as a complete surprise.

Taking a deep breath in, I let it out slowly and say, “I’m glad we’re going to be looking for a new house.”

He nods. “If that makes you happy, it makes me happy, Duck.”

“Well, it’s not just that we’ll be closer to Ava and Matthias. I’ll be happy to have somewhere we can decorate.”

That makes him smile. “Definitely! And the first thing we’re going to do is get real furniture and not that minimalist nonsense we have here.”

“Yes, we absolutely need furniture that’s comfortable for when people come to visit. We’ll have other rooms to decorate too, though. Like bedrooms.”

As he talks about us taking our current bedroom furniture to the new house we hope to find soon, I know I can’t drag this out anymore. When he finishes, I take another deep breath and blurt out my news.

“Marius, I’m pregnant. I found out the other day. I wanted to tell you before this, but everything with Sam happened, so I didn’t want to just announce it. I guess that’s what I just did, though.”

He stares at me wide-eyed for a long moment that feels like forever before a smile lights up his face. “You’re pregnant? Really?”

“Really. Just a few weeks.”

I feel his hand slide over my belly until it rests against my skin. “A baby. We’re having a baby. Wow.”

His reaction confuses me. I thought he’d be more animated about the news.

“Are you happy? You’re strangely subdued right now.”

Marius kisses me softly on the lips and sighs. “I’m thrilled we’re having a baby, Duck. One question, though. You knew tonight when I asked you at the house? Why didn’t you tell me then?”

“Because I didn’t want to tell our entire family before I told you in private. I know you Kings love to share all the good and bad things with one another, but I wanted this to be just for us at first.”

He smiles and kisses me again. “Thank you for that. You know I’ll be telling everyone the good news tomorrow, though, right?”

“Then you are happy?”

Taking me into his arms, he hugs me to him and says, “I couldn’t be happier, Duck.”

Eden and Marius are not only getting married again. They’re having a baby. Just wait until Ava finds out. I see many trips to shop for baby clothes in my future.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

Marius

I stepout of the elevator to see Duck lifting that enormous floral arrangement of lilies and some other flower I can’t remember. Immediately, I hurry over and take it out of her hands.

“You can’t be doing this kind of stuff, Eden. You’re pregnant.”

She levels a very stern look on my face. “Marius, I’m maybe a month along, honey. I can do anything any other normal person can do. Wait until I’m as big as a house and in danger of toppling over for this kind of worry.”

“Fine, but I still don’t want you lifting this huge thing. Where do you want me to put it?” I ask as I try to see around the white flowers filling my vision.

Behind me, she says, “On the island. I’m trying to get things situated for the movers when they come on Friday.”

I set the giant flower arrangement down in the kitchen and turn around to see her smiling at me. “What’s that grin for?”

She walks over to me and slides her hands around my waist before giving me a kiss. “I’m just so happy we found a house so quickly. I can’t believe it’s only been like three weeks since we started looking and we’re moving in next week!”

“That’s what paying cash and overbidding by twenty grand will do for you,” I say with a chuckle.
