She sat up and pulled her knees up to her chin, tugging my T-shirt over her legs. She glanced at the door and when she saw the people standing there, she buried her head in her knees.

I stood up and moved to the door. “Get the fuck out, all of you.” I pushed King out the door, ignoring the questions in his eyes, before I closed it. “Mellie, you can stay.”

“Would you like me to stay, Kytten? Or would you like me to go with the others?”

She shrugged, not really answering. I sat on the bed and pulled her into my lap. “Baby, it’s your decision. But I wish you would talk to Mellie. She can help you work through all this shit that tried to break you.”

“It did break me.”

“No, baby. You’re still fucking here. You’re still fighting. The only difference is, you’re no longer fighting alone.”
