“What do you want me to say?”

She crosses her arms against her chest. “Nothing, I suppose.”

“Are you unhappy?” I ask, hating to think I’ve truly upset this woman.

“No. I’m actually happier than I can ever remember being. But I’m also… confused.”

“How so?”

“One minute you are using words like ‘mine’ and being overly protective and possessive, and the next minute I’m realizing I know absolutely nothing about you. And then when it comes to defining us, I don’t even know how to begin. And then we spend all our evenings together like we’re a couple, and yet we aren’t?—”

My phone rings, and I think we’re both grateful for the distraction.

“Go ahead,” she tells me, motioning for me to pick it up.

It’s Marco. “Hey,” I say as I regain my composure. Hannah and I were about to go down a path that I wasn’t ready for yet. I could tell she was going to start asking me questions I didn’t have answers for. At least not the right ones.

“Meet me at Sins tonight. Leo is also coming?—”

“I’m with Hannah,” I interrupt, using her as my excuse to not attend the sex club that Marco loves to frequent.

“I know. Bring her. Leo and I are both bringing women as well. It can be one of those triple dates that the normal people do.”

“We are far from normal,” I say. “Hannah and I have had a long day?—”

“Do I have to use the ‘bullet in the ass’ card to get you to do something with your cousin?” Marco cuts in. “Because I will. My ass will forever be scarred, and?—”

“Marco wants us to go out with him and Leo tonight. They have dates,” I say to Hannah.

Her eyebrow spikes, and she smiles. “That sounds like fun.”

I shake my head and mouth the words ‘no’.

“It would be nice to see them again,” she continues, ignoring me.

“It’s a sex club,” I blurt out, knowing that will be enough to scare her away.

She tilts her head. “Really?”

“Stop trying to talk her out of it, dickhead,” Marco chimes in from the other side of the phone. “Don’t make her think it’s all leather and orgies.”

Hannah’s smile grows. “We like sex.” I can’t tell if she’s teasing me or not. But she genuinely doesn’t seem afraid of the idea.

“My bullet ass will see you at Sins at nine,” Marco says and hangs up before giving me an opportunity to argue any further.

“There’s a sex club in Chicago?” Hannah asks.

“Several, but this one is tamer as far as sex clubs go. It’s more of a high-end nightclub where there are no rules when it comes to public sex, nudity, sharing and so on.”

“Will we have to have sex there?”

I choke on an unexpected laugh. “No, Flowers. We don’t have to do anything.”

“Will you want to?”

I pause to consider the idea. I’ve had sex at Sins before. But never with someone I considered mine. And Hannah is most definitely mine. I don’t share. I don’t even want anyone to look at her. I’d snap the neck of anyone at the club who even dared do a double take in her direction.

I take a step toward her and reach for her arm, tugging her against me. “What I want is sex now.”
