Calstone waved his hands in surrender. “I’m not dressed for fighting. These are my new boots. I’ve tried a new hand lotion as well. Can’t ruin the effect with boxing.”

Harrison laughed. “So frivolous.”

Will snorted. Calstonewasfrivolous, but he wasn’t wrong. It was hard to woo a wife. There was no damn rule book. Was he doing too much, too little? He wanted to do much, much more, but that had nothing to do withwooing. Which was why Will had shown up for his private training match needing to expel the pent-up energy in his body. Hewasdistracted.

And his body was impatient.

No one could claim he was not a patient man normally. But where certain parts of him were concerned, the word had started to wear thin. And that member was making the fact known.

So it was either vent here or drag her off to a secluded corner and ravish her. And since his wooing had yet to turn into true seduction, this seemed to be his fate for the foreseeable future.

Will and Harrison went at it a few more rounds before his partner stepped back and raised his hand in a signal to halt.

“Let’s stop here for today,” Harrison suggested as he massaged his shoulder.

“It’s only been twenty rounds.” Usually, they would practice up until fifty.

“Your uppercut was excellent today, as was your footing. Your mind was sloppy. I can work with the first and the second, but not the last.”

Will straightened from his stance, wiping the sweat from his temple with his shirt.

“Thank you for putting up with it.”

“At least you got some of your frustration out,” Calstone said with a grin. “Direct the rest to your wife.”

Harrison glanced at Calstone. “Are you purposely riling him up?”

“It shouldn’t come as a surprise. It’s been my favorite pastime for years now. Besides, the more I rile him up, the more he is able to vent out in boxing. You could say I am helping him.”

“Let’s practice every day from now on,” Will said.

“Fine, but get your mind in the match when we train.”

Will inclined his head. “I will.”

“Now that the venting is over, I want to hear all about what your wife said about London’s biggest scandal of the decade.”

Harrison leaned against the wall, observing the two men. “Scandal of the decade?”

“Haven’t you heard?” Calstone asked. “Thetonis buzzing with news that copies of the stolen betting book were distributed at a ball by the exact chits who were being wagered upon.”

Harrison waved the news aside. “I don’t care for the distractions of theton.”

“Leeds’s wife is in the betting book.”

Harrison arched a brow at that. “Ah.”

Will frowned. “What do you meanah?”

“Is this part of the woman troubles Calstone referred to?” Harrison asked. “Can I assume that your wife has had a hand in the affair?”

“Smart man,” Calstone exclaimed.

“Whether my wife had a hand in it or not, this matter has nothing to do with us.”

“So she said nothing?” Calstone lifted a skeptical brow.

“She said plenty, old chap. But that is between me and Harriet.”
