He grinned wickedly. “I make no promises.Unless you promise to make me soup, of course.”

“You’re even more spoiled than I remember.”His grin got wider as I teased him.

“You just like giving in to me. That’s notmy fault.” He shrugged. “I have to let you give me what I want or it would bemean.”

That was some Austin logic right there.

Snorting, I rolled my eyes. “That’sbullshit.”

He laughed. “Oh, so the sweet, perfectomega curses?”

I could feel my face heating up. “Stopthat.”

I had a feeling I was going to be sayingthat a lot around him.

Had he always been this much of a tease?

My strongest memories of him were ofsmiling at things he said or just enjoying having him nearby. I wasn’t surewhat that meant, but the little Austin-sounding voice in the back of my headsaid not to worry about it, just to have fun…that was advice I didn’t mindlistening to.

Chapter 6

Griffin

There was some old stupid adage about theway to an alpha’s heart being through his stomach, but that had to work foromegas too, right?

But just because he liked dinner didn’tmean he’d like anything more from me…would it?

“That was wonderful.” Wade leaned back inthe chair, relaxed and smiling. “I can’t believe you remembered how much I likecobbler.”

I shrugged. “How could I forget?”

He’d hardly ever made it because it wasn’tMatthew’s favorite dessert, but it was what he ordered anytime we’d gone out.

His cheeks pinked, but he still looked pleased.“Well, thank you and it was wonderful.”

“You know, taking another bowl upstairswhile we watch a movie would be perfectly reasonable.” His dramatic groan saidI was on the right track. “You wouldn’t want to make me think you didn’t likemy food.”

“But I already had that wonderful pot roastand everything else. It was perfect.” His words said one thing, but his longingglance at the stove said another.

“Let me show you around, then we’lldecide.” Pushing him now might work, but surprising him later meant he’d have aharder time saying no.

He chuckled. “Yes, I want to see the restof this place. It’s huge.”

I shrugged as I stood, gathering up thebowls. “When you separate the two spaces, work and living, they don’t seem asbig. I just didn’t want to have to buy a house and space for the commercialkitchen. Doing it this way made my down payment stretch a lot further.”

“That makes sense.” He stood, giving me alook that said arguing against his help would be useless.

“Thank you.”

As he moved over to the sink, he took thebowls from me and gave me a teasing glare. “I’ll do these while you finishputting things away.”

I nodded obediently and we quickly had thekitchen back in order. Gesturing toward the door, I gave him a questioninglook. “Are you ready for the rest of the tour?”

“Oh yes.” There was a pep in his step as weheaded for the stairs that was cute and made me want to give him a hug.

But I wasn’t sure friends did that.

Well, normal friends, not the guys he hungout with.
