I got another slow nod from Dakota as heseemed to try to pull his brain back into the moment and away from the dirtythoughts that I knew had to be running through his head.
“Work…yes…” He blinked a few times. “Whatis your availability like? Most of this could be done from your own home oncewe get everything ironed out but having you available to come here would bemore convenient.”
“I’d rather work here so I could help whereneeded if that works for you.” I looked toward the rest of the house. “Even thekitchen table would work if that’s what’s free.”
“No, I think we could find another optionfor you.” He glanced toward the doorway like he was mentally walking throughthe house. “There are a few places that might work. I don’t know the bestschedule.”
He focused back on me. “Jonah comes in onMonday, Wednesday, and Friday, usually in the afternoon, but he doesn’t knowabout this stuff.”
“Are you planning on telling them?Eventually someone will ask more specific questions about what I’m doing foryou.” I had a feeling it was going to be sooner than he realized.
“Soon?” He shrugged. “I guess? I mean, Iwant it to be a success first.”
And defining success just went on themental to-do list because from everything I’d found online he was one of thetop erotica authors.
This was going to be the most interestingjob ever.
Chapter 5
Dakota
“I’m just not sure if that will be too manyhours for what you’ll be doing or not enough.” Looking over my notes, it washard to assign times to the tasks.
Just because I kept getting distracted andwould take half the day to do something boring didn’t mean he was going to bethe same way. But the reverse was also true. He might end up doing a morethorough job on a lot of things than I had.
Tristan chuckled. “I think we both knowthat some of my time is going to be used doing things besides just managingads.”
My mind immediately went to all the sexythings he’d been hinting at, but he must have known that because he gave a low, sexy chuckle. “Not that. My, my, you’re a dirty omega.”
All I could do was shrug.
Iwasa dirty omega and it felt likehe’d been teasing me for days instead of just a few hours.
“I meant things like managing you.” Hisgrin widened when I rolled my eyes. “You need a keeper. You’re not gettingenough sleep. You probably can’t remember what you had for lunch, and you don’thave enough time to breathe right now, much less manage an entirely separatebusiness.”
Okay, so he might have had a point.
Wait.
Had I eaten lunch?
No, I was not veering off track. “As I lookat everything we’ve listed out and the…vague things you’ve mentioned, this ispossibly adding up to be a lot of work for you for the income we’ve discussed.”
At least I thought it was.
Maybe.
He shook his head. “I’m perfectly happywith the pay we’ve agreed on and the workload. Anything else I choose to handlewill be my decision. Take out everything personal or connected to domination inany way and it’s a perfectly reasonable workload for the pay.”
Was it?
“And the odd hours?” I hadn’t wanted tochange my schedule with Jonah, so Tristan had agreed to come in during themorning on Jonah’s regular days and the afternoon on the others. He’d made somekind of offhand comment about it being a better schedule to keep track of me, butI’d just ignored that.
I didn’t need a keeper no matter what Jonahor Tristan seemed to think.
But it was kind of cute that he wanted totake care of me.
I wasn’t living in a fantasy world. I knewwe weren’t dating or anything like that. Shit. We hardly knew each other. Butthere was something between us and nothing about him said that I couldn’t trusthim with my submission…for now, at least.
