Me vanilla?
Stepping back, Igestured for them to come inside. “What brings you here tonight? You know Shaneis next door?”
Wade shook hishead as Austin giggled and teased. “Why would we want to go bug them? You’remuch more fun, and much more single, I presume, since we haven’t heard anythingabout your dating life?”
“Brat.” As theylaughed, stepping into the house, I shut the door. “Do you honestly think Icould hide a relationship in this family? Please.”
Wade shrugged.“You seem to know how to work the system in your family, so it’s possible. Andlook at Graham.”
“But not likely; he’sa complete anomaly.” I snorted. “The last time I was dating someone, my mothersent him flowers to welcome him to the family.”
They both groaned.
“Oh yeah, had tobackpedal that one quick because he was expecting a ring after that.” I noddedas they both shook their heads, commiserating with me. “Yeah, we’re just goingto say it was more of a casual relationship than my mother realized. I stilldon’t know how she figured it out.”
Austin grinned.“She told you she wouldn’t tattle on anyone, didn’t she?”
“Yes.” I laughed.“I’m going to figure it out at some point.”
Wade’s smilewidened. “I bet you’d be good at getting revenge.”
“Oh yes.” As weheaded into the living room, I pointed to the couch and scattered chairs. “Havea seat.”
“I know thisappears very random, but we actually had something we wanted to discuss withyou.” Wade’s easy smile looked slightly nervous, but he didn’t back down as hegot comfortable on the couch next to Austin.
“I have a feelingthat with you guys this could literally be about anything.” I grinned so theyknew I wasn’t worried, but I was serious. They were an odd group of omegas, butthey were entertaining.
Austin nodded, awicked grin on his face. “Oh yes.”
Wade shoved hiselbow into Austin’s side. “Behave.”
Austin shovedback. “I won’t promise that.”
It was likewatching kids fight…or maybe me with my family.
“So what’s up?” Itclearly wasn’t a social call, so I wasn’t going to ignore that. “Everythingokay?”
I wasn’t the onethey’d probably think to come to in an emergency, but if there was a problem,I’d do my best to help.
Wade nodded.“We’re fine. There are just a few things we needed to talk to you about.”
“Stop being sovague.” Austin sighed dramatically. “If you’re going to be around us more, withthings like the pool party, there are things we need to know about you.”
Ahh.
I had a feeling Iwas getting ready to be invited into the inner circle, but they wanted to makesure I wasn’t some kind of asshole or confused vanilla alpha first. Nodding, Ileaned back in the oversized chair I’d sat down in. “I get that. But honestly,it’s pretty clear that at least several of you guys aren’t in conventionalrelationships and that doesn’t bother me at all. Whatever makes you happy.”
Then I pointed to themand narrowed my eyes. “Just as long as I don’t have to explain anything else tomy mother.”
They both laughedand some of their tension seemed to ease. Wade nodded. “Deal.”
Austin seemed totake that as permission to charge right in. “What is your opinion of BDSM ingeneral? What do you think about omegas who submit? You’re entirely tooknowledgeable about wonderfully diverse porn to be too vanilla, so I’m going tobe overly nosy and ask if you’re in the lifestyle.”
Interesting.
Wade smacked him.“We were going to be subtle.”
Really?
