“Your father is the one who’s insane.” Austin rolled his eyes. “He keeps trying to make me bring Silas to some charity dinner next month because he wants the publicity.”
Tanner groaned. “Just ignore his calls. That’s what I do most of the time.”
Austin shrugged. “I only answer it for you guys anyway. Jonah goes through the voicemails later, but that’s it. The phone has rung nonstop for days.”
I groaned. It was time to give Austin a heads up. “Okay, small issue. You need a full-time admin again. It’s more than either of us can handle with all the time you spend hanging out with Silas. And don’t get me wrong, I think that’s the best thing for you because I’m happy for you.”
And it wasn’t like he actually had to work for a living.
“But, dude, it’s insane.” I shrugged. “I feel bad, but—”
Austin groaned dramatically and threw himself on the floor in front of the couch. “Don’t make me admin shop again. It’s like going through some kind of bargain-basement store where nothing fits and it’s all dirty and from two seasons ago.”
Was he talking about dresses or people?
“We’ll figure it out.” Before I could attempt to figure out another way to placate the crazy man, Bradley spoke up again, this time not being an asshole.
“Why don’t you see if Silas knows anyone? He seems to know more strange people than you do, so he might have someone from an odd walk of life who needs help.” It was realistic and positive.
Had he been abducted by aliens?
“And if that doesn’t work, we’ll poach someone from Tanner. He’s got to have an admin or someone like that who needs a more flexible schedule or who you can just pay more money to steal.” Tanner snorted again, but I was serious.
Austin seemed to like that idea. “He’s got the best employees and they love me.”
“Until they get to know you.” Tanner was teasing, but he might have had a point.
“Maybe Clay has a buddy?” Someone stern and not easily shocked?
“The military has admin people and planners too, not just soldiers. Right?” I’d only met the soldier type of, well, soldiers, but someone had to organize that many people.
“Oh.” Austin’s eyes widened and he sat up like an excited poodle. “Do you think Silas would let me have two hot military guys to ogle?”
Probably.
Dakota rolled his eyes and barked out a laugh. “That’s a stupid question. He gives you everything you want. You’re more spoiled now than before you met him.”
Austin thought that was the best compliment ever, and as he rambled on about how great Silas was, I had to agree with the thought. Wasn’t that what every sub wanted? The goal wasn’t to find the man who spanked the best or who knew how to control a sub the most, it was to find the Dom who would make them the happiest version of themselves.
Austin’s happiest version was just more of a flirt than most subs.
Chapter 14
Graham
“My mother called today asking why I wasn’t trying to get settled down. What did you do?” The phone had barely connected when I’d charged in, but I was a bit frustrated.
Shane snorted. “I’ve gotten three calls this week about why I haven’t asked Tanner to marry me and two more about why they can’t have dinner at his house. So prepare for that, Mr. I Want My Privacy So I Never Invite the Family Over.”
Groaning, I unlocked the back door and headed inside. Jonah and Russ weren’t due to be home for at least another hour, so the house was quiet. “Don’t tell me that. I’ve spent years making sure they don’t drive me insane.”
And it wasn’t just about my relationship with Russ. The one time I’d invited everyone over, my grandmother had tried to pick the locks on what we’d told them were our bedrooms upstairs because she was insane and nosy.
That had nearly given me a heart attack. Not only had I not been prepared to explain why Russ’s bedroom had never been slept in, she wouldn’t admit where she’d gotten the lock picking set. It’d been more than I could handle, and thankfully the rest of the family had understood why I’d put my foot down.
Even my mother hadn’t tried to make me feel guilty about it.
“I haven’t been that lucky. Simon lives next door and it’s like he’s living in my pocket sometimes. Every time I turn around he’s there. Yesterday Tanner and I walked in the door and started to go at it and we stumbled into the living room and he’s on my couch!” Shane didn’t appreciate it when I started to laugh, but his life made mine feel almost boring.
