Wade nodded, grinning. “He could call thepresident if he wanted to. He’s insane, but the money and all his businessventures keep them hanging on every word. It’s funny.”

I rolled my eyes as the phone rang. “I onlycalled the president once. And that was a legitimate business issue thosedamned—”

My rant was cut short as Maggie answered.“I’ve been hoping I’d hear from my favorite person.”

I giggled. “Oh, I take it you’ve seen thepictures?”

She laughed. “Yes, everyone is going crazy. It’s ridiculous. You still have all your clothes on this time.”

“I agree, but what can you do?” I grinnedas Clay was sitting there shaking his head.

“Answer your phone, for one thing.” Her dryanswer made me laugh.

“But sending all the calls to voicemail isso much easier. I had to figure out what we wanted to do first because mysweetie isn’t used to the spotlight.” To make my not answering the call go downeasier, I let my voice go cute and flirty, like I was sharing a secret. “ButI’ll tell you that you were my only call if that makes you feel better.”

Her chuckle had the room just shaking theirheads.

Margaret Ford had a wicked feud going onwith Erica Conner, so knowing she was getting the scoop would put me in hergood graces for months. “So am I going to hear about who this mysterious manis? The guesses are hilarious. You didn’t actually buy him, did you? Is he aporn star?”

I laughed, startled at the question. “No,he’s so sweet that you’re going to love him.”

“Sweet?” Disbelief was clear in her voice.

“Well, I think he’s sweet…some people havecalled him stern and rough, though. But I can’t imagine why.”

I grinned when she groaned. “You're goingto make the censors go all kinds of crazy in this interview, aren’t you?”

“Me? I’m keeping my clothes on and justtalking to you about my boyfriend. If you happen to ask how we met or what hedoes for a living, I can’t be held responsible for that.” I could hear herquietly demanding a pen and paper from someone.

“Just give me the damned napkin.” Herwhispered words had me fighting not to laugh. Evidently, I’d caught her atlunch.

“Asking you how you met would be perfectlyreasonable in an interview.” I could hear the wheels turning in her head. Shemight do mostly entertainment style news, but she had bigger aspirations. “I’dalso have very good reasons to ask what he does for a living and what kind ofthings you have in common. A lot of couples meet around causes and importantevents.”

Oh yes, she wasn’t stupid at all. “Causesare so important, even ones that get overlooked.”

“Overlooked?” I could hear the wheels inher head spinning even faster.

“Yes, there are just so many aspects ofomega rights people have overlooked. But my sexy man ispassionateaboutsupporting my rights.” I couldn’t decide how much to tease and how much to layout.

She was open-minded and loved drama, butsome of the studio execs were so boring and old-fashioned. I didn’t want to gointo this with them looking over our shoulders. She’d rather apologize laterthan ask for permission, anyway.

There was a pause while I heard herscribbling more notes and talking to herself. “I haven’t thought about omegarights being a passionately debated topic, but I’m assuming you have auniqueview on that?”

“Passionate is exactly how I’d describe myview on omega rights.” She’d figure it out soon. “I can’t wait for you to meetmy Silas. You’re going to love him.”

That should be enough to get her going inthe right direction. Between the pics and his name, it wouldn’t be hard. “Butremember, I’m just coming on to talk about my silly new romance that people arewhispering about.”

She chuckled. “Oh yes, you’re just a sweetomega who gets into scrapes.”

I grinned. “I agree completely.”

“Is your sweet, sexy Silas good at gettinginto scrapes or is he more…conventional?” I loved smart people.

“Well, he’s definitely the tall, dark, andbrooding type, but he’s not conventional. Would I go for someone that boring?”I scoffed. “He’s more unique than that.”

“You’re going to make me insane, aren’tyou?” She could smell the story.

“You should buy a bottle of that scotchyour boss likes.” As she groaned, I chuckled. “I have to go, but let Rick knowwhen you want to get things set up.”
