Shane shrugged, not looking offended.“Probably, but it’s an interesting project and should make you a nice profit.”

I’d never turn down a sale that wouldn’tget me in hot water legally, but I wasn’t sure selling to a sex club was a goodidea. Not that good ideas had ever been my strong suit. “‘Interesting project’makes this sound like a bake sale.”

He grinned, finally looking a bit wickedand less sweet. “I can promise it’s nowhere near that wholesome.”

I wasn’t so sure about that.

I’d heard rumors of people getting theirhopes up about setting up one kind of group or another, but it’d never workedout. Some had been just a lack of follow-through, but others had made it way tooobvious they were doing something interesting and had attracted the wrong attention.

“I’m not saying no, but I won’t commit tothe orders until I’m sure I’m not going to lose money with this. You don’tactually seem like the type to own a sex club.” He’d been in often enough thatI was starting to think he was really in the lifestyle in some way, but it wasa big jump between buying a cock cage for an omega and starting a sex club.

He barked out a laugh. “I’m not. My…thegentlemen who are going to own the club, however, are. They have the propertyand plans are being drawn up for the renovations. They just need the rightplace to buy some of the items they need. As you know, it’s not easy to findsex toys and equipment online.”

Not without having the right permits andknowing the right people.

It was weird, but it didn’t feel like hewas setting me up—and I’d gotten pretty good at picking out the ridiculouspeople vice kept trying to send in. “I’ll need to meet the owners before Iagree.”

That would be the only way to know.

“Perfect.” Shane agreed without question, actually pulling out his phone and opening a calendar app. “What day works foryou?”

Insane.

“I can do mornings before the shop opens orSunday because the shop has to be closed then.” Stupid regulations. Like buyingtoys on one specific day of the week made it any dirtier.

“Then let’s do Sunday at one, if that worksfor you. I know some of the gentlemen have schedules that aren’t easy to movearound during the week.” He looked up. “Too many international meetings thatcan’t be done later in the day. Time zones make things difficult.”

Of course they did.

Who the fuck was opening this club, thepresident?

“That works.” To cover my ass, I gave himmy speech. “But just so we’re clear, these are novelty items only that aren’tdesigned for sex. Any use of a sexual nature is not encouraged by thisestablishment and I can’t be held liable for that.”

Shane rolled his eyes. “Yes, nothing sexualabout novelty sex toys. They’re just funny.”

“Just so we’re on the same page.” It wasthe one phrase that kept vice away the best, and I made sure to point it out toeveryone who walked in the door. I’d run my shop for almost ten years and Iwasn’t going to let an overzealous police force—or me just being stupid—stopme.

“We are. Nothing sexual, it’s a socialclub.” He held out his hands, doing his best to look honest and open. It workedon him. “My…colleagues are especially careful about their privacy, however.”

Oh yeah.

“I’m assuming they have the…clout to figureout how to handle anyone who finds…social clubs unwanted?” I had the time to digin my heels and figure out what was legal and what wasn’t. They wouldn’tnecessarily have had the same background or the same police contacts.

“Yes.” There was no doubt in the alpha’svoice. “They can handle anything.”

He’d given me the impression that one ofthe omegas that owned the club was his sub, but most alphas I’d met who playedin the lifestyle wouldn’t have had that much faith in their partner. Theywanted a sub but didn’t understand how things really worked.

Maybe he was a real Dom after all.

But how had I never met him before? Thecommunity was small and very insulated. I might not have been involved muchlately, but I’d have definitely heard of a new alpha getting his bearings inthe scene.

I watched him for a long few minutes.Nothing about the guy seemed fake or false. He was careful about how he talkedabout his omega and the men who were building the club, but nothing set off anyred flags. If anything, I was curious.

Which was how I’d ended up a Dom and owningan adult novelty shop, so I’d learned to be a bit more careful about where mycuriosity took me. “Alright, Sunday at one. But if I don’t like what I hear orI think this could backfire on my business in any way, I’m out.”

“Understandable.” Shane stood taller, likehe was negotiating a real business deal, and stuck out his hand. “They’reexcited to meet you.”

Then he actually looked nervous for thefirst time.
