I nodded. “I like Shane, don’t get mewrong. But he’s just not the type of Dom I want.”

Jonah snorted. “We all can’t decide on arestaurant most nights. Why would we agree on anything else?”

I grinned, but Tanner didn’t seem satisfiedalthough he backed down and conceded. “You’re right. I guess I’d just picturedsomeone different for Austin.”

How?

Evidently,Bradleyhad the same question because he snorted. “You’re delusional. The drama queenover there needs someone strong who’ll keep him on a short leash.”

He might have been right, but I couldn’tsay that. “Hey, I’ve been very well-behaved lately. No drama and no crazyschemes.”

I’d been downright boring.

But Silas was keeping me occupied andmaking sure things stayed interesting, so I wasn’t worried about ending up tooboring. That would just be tragic.

I threw a peanut at Bradley. “You’re one totalk, Mr. I’m Too Good for Everyone.”

He was the one who would need to be kept ona short leash when he finally let his wild side show. I might’ve been a bitloud, but he was so repressed he was going to explode when he finally foundsomeone to put up with him.

Dakota started laughing, but he was on myshit list too. He kept making little comments about how Tanner might be rightabout Silas. Dakota didn’t care one way or the other as long as Silas was niceto me, but he was having fun getting Tanner all wound up.

Wade was trying to smooth things over andclearly decided that changing the subject was the best idea. Glancing over atJonah, he grinned. “I think someone failed to mention they had a date lastnight.”

Oh,that wasinteresting.

Jonah groaned and leaned over to bury hishead in the arm of the chair. “Don’t throw me under the bus just because thosetwo can’t function.”

“How did we miss this?” I reached foranother peanut out of the bowl on Wade’s coffee table and waited expectantlyfor the show to start. Finally, some drama I wasn’t involved in.

“Because I was trying to keep it quiet untilI knew how badly it would turn out.” Jonah sighed and sat up, flopping backagainst the chair.

“How bad?” Tanner must have decided to lethis worries go because he didn’t fight Wade’s attempt to distract him.

Jonah shrugged. “Not as bad as it could havebeen, but he was…too nice sounds wrong, but it felt like I was always walkingon eggshells trying to keep from upsetting him.”

Been there, done that.

“That’s frustrating.” I leaned over andsqueezed his knee. “You’ll find the right alpha.”

Wade was looking a little uncomfortable atinadvertently upsetting Jonah, so I spoke up again. “But he was nice?”

“Yeah.” Jonah smiled reluctantly. “Yeah,he’s polite and wasn’t frustrated that I wasn’t a CEO or something like that.”He gave Tanner and me a teasing grin. “But I’m pretty sure I’ll know what he’llsay if he finds out about my fantasies. He’s the type that would worry I’d beenabused and want to know how to help me get past my trauma.”

“Ugh.” I hated those. “Sorry.”

“Maybe I’m just being dramatic. Who knows,he might turn out to be kinky as fuck.” Jonah’s easy grin got bigger as herelaxed. “And he doesn’t mind that I’m kind of flighty and don’t have a realcareer path.”

I rolled my eyes. “Your art is a realcareer path.”

“Not everyone sees it that way. But yeah,he thought it was wonderful that I wasfollowing my inner muse.” Jonah’ssmile said he was thoroughly enjoying the description, but I snorted.

“Please tell me that’s not a direct quote.”People were so weird when it came to artists.

He chuckled. “At least that stopped otherquestions about what I want to do when I finally become a real adult.”

We all winced at that one. Jonah hadn’tfound it easy to explain to people that he didn’t really want a typical job.His fantasy had always been to work on his art and to be with his alpha fulltime. He’d always made it sound like he wanted to be more of a twenty-four-sevenslave, just without the slave part…or a stay-at-home omega but without thekids.

He didn’t sound insane to me, but otherpeople hadn’t reacted well. But that was just stupid. He wanted to be with hisalpha. Why was that insane?
