“Um…well…”

“Trouble?”

“I’ve already had to pay off two reporters. They were standing too close to the car at the last movie premiere I went toand heard him.” Silas’s expression darkened. “But it was just two and it hasn’thappened since.”

I’d been lucky that they hadn’t thought itwas a good enough story to shop around. It probably wouldn’t have sold well, but I’d only kept it quiet so it wouldn’t hurt Wade. Otherwise, I wouldn’t havecared. It was a ridiculously boring story I could have played off easily.

“You realize I don’t like this at all, don’t you?” Silas was back to giving me that stern look that had all thebutterflies in my stomach humping each other.

“Yes.” But there was nothing I could doabout it.

Silas watched me quietly. “I’m going tothink about this, but I won’t put up with the rude behavior either. And fromnow on, I’ll pick you up when we go places. That will solve some of theproblems.”

He was so cute.

“Thank you.” The stiffness in his shouldersand the way he kept looking toward the front of the restaurant said he wasn’thappy with the compromise, but he hadn’t taken over completely, which had to bedriving him crazy.

Silas wasn’t just a take-charge kind ofguy. He was a real Alpha Dom.

So fucking hot.

And that he hadn’t immediately stepped into fix it was sweet.

That would have been hot too, though. But Icould deal with the asshole until he got bored and looked for another job. Theyall did eventually. I was seen as a good steppingstone to get flashierpositions. I might be rich and a bit of a drama queen, but my personal life wasfairly boring and Tanner was the most famous person I hung out with on aregular basis.

His hand started inching higher on my leg, making me fight the urge to wiggle and plead. He leaned closer across the tinybistro table and dropped his voice low. “It sounds like you’ve had a long week.Have you been a good boy?”

Shit.

I had to behave at work.

I had to behave at work.

I had to behave at work.

“Yes…I…” Fuck. I could not moan in here.Taking a deep breath, I focused on the half-eaten cookie in front of him. “Yes,I was.”

Ha.

Functional.

His grip tightened and he made a pleasedsound. “Very good.”

It’d better get me something hotter than averbal praise. Although the way he growled it out sent a shiver through me andhad my poor neglected dick doing a happy dance.

I had to admit he was easily excitedsometimes, but something about Silas just sent him into overdrive. Before Ifigured out the polite response to sexual praise of that sort, my phone beeped.“That’s the driver.”

Silas trailed his fingers down my leg, making me fight not to beg. “Then let’s go get dinner, Trouble.”

Trouble was going to get a reward, or hewas going to come in his pants.

“That sounds perfect.” Or as perfect as Icould get and still keep my clothes on.

But getting to know Silas better was funtoo. I didn’t want him to think I was just after him because of how hot he was. That was just a bonus.

Silas took my hand as we stood and pickedup our trash as we headed for the door. Rita waved, calling out a reminder thatI was coming back next week for dinner. She was dead set on showing me how afull Greek dinner should be prepared.

She’d grabbed her chest dramatically whenI’d said I couldn’t remember eating anything Greek. Maybe a dessert at somepoint, but my go-to guilty pleasure food options were Mexican and Italian. Thatwas what had made her demand a promise that I would come get real food.
