“You were half-naked, you fuckingliar,” I retorted.

“I was going in the shower when she turned up! I swear, I did nothing wrong.”

Was I going to trust him? Believe him, just like that?

“Why did she say you’re in a foul mood then?” I snapped, flicking the lock on the door, so it swung open.

My stomach danced at the sight of him while my brain told me to kick him in the balls.

“I can explain that.” Theo licked his lips anxiously. “But I didn’t do a fucking thing with her since being with you. I would never, ever, do that to you.”

It was then that I saw the lipstick on his face, smudged, but it was there. I closed my eyes when I spoke, almost as though I needed to protect myself from seeing him.

“So, you didn’t kiss her?” I asked through gritted teeth.

“No, can Ipleaseexplain?!” Theo pleaded as I stared at him.

“You’ve got five fucking seconds.”

“Her name is Lissa; we had a thing a few months back...”

“Five. Four.”

“She drove over today, came on to me and that, but I told her I’m with you. That it wouldn’t happen.”

“Three.”

He sighed as he lifted his eyes to mine. “Then Lissa told me she had to tell me something.”

“Two, one.”

I turned on my heel, my hand on the door as he spoke.

“She’s pregnant,” he whispered hoarsely, as my stomach crashed through the floor.

“What?” I whispered as he nodded.

“She’s pregnant, and apparently,I’mthe father.”

Theo ran his hand through his hair as tears filled my eyes for the second time that day.

“Theodore, I need you to leave. Rightnow. I can’t deal with this. Please,” I choked out as he looked at me with pain in his eyes.

“I’m so—”

“Sorry? Yeah. Me too,” I gasped out, and Theo dropped his gaze. Turning away, defeated, I watched him stroll down the stairs.

Is she pregnant by my Theo?

How could I possibly compete with that? I sank to the floor, sobs racking my body as the front door closed behind him.

What am I going to do now?
