HANNAH

The appointment went well.

Although everyone insisted on coming with me, I went with Theo and my mom, who both waited outside. I think she just wanted to show her support, which I appreciated.

“So we recommend you take folic acid supplements and avoid the foods listed on that leaflet. Your due date is approximately the thirtieth of October.” The doctor smiled, handing me a leaflet. “Your midwife will be in touch after twelve weeks, which is anytime now. You’ll receive an appointment for the dating scan shortly, and that will confirm the due date. But you’re all set. If you have any concerns or anything at all, just get in touch.”

That’s it?

I stood, thanking him before walking away in shock. I wasn’t sure what I expected, but I thought maybe he would at least lecture me on teen pregnancy.

But then again, I’m nineteen.

Hardly a minor.

I wandered out to see Mom and Theo stand, exchanging a look as they smiled at me.

“Well?” Theo smiled, taking me into his arms as I shrugged.

“Yep, I’m not just fat. There’s going to be a baby.”

Mom nodded, her eyes shining with tears as I smiled. I felt exhausted, but Theo handled it immediately.

“Let’s go back home and chill. Then you’vegotto see my parents. They want to see you.”

I cringed a little as Mom rubbed my back.

“You’ve got to see them, Han.”

“I know, I’m justsotired.” I yawned, resting my head on Theo’s shoulder as he kissed my forehead.

We get in the back of Mom’s car, and we pick up my vitamins and lots of ice cream.

I love ice cream.

“Your parents were okay though you said, Theo?” Mom glanced anxiously at Theo in the rear-view mirror as he nodded dismissively.

“They weren’t at first, but they know how much I love Hannah. They have little choice, I guess.”

“Have you considered college?”

“We’ve got one more year until we graduate,” Theo sighed as I groaned.

“Six months of those, I’ll be pregnant,” I wailed as Theo squeezed me tight.

“Beautifullyso.”

My mom’s cheeks tinged with pink spots, and I smiled.

Theo was perfect.

When we arrived home, Ryan and Mara were cuddled on the couch watching Netflix. There was an awkward silence as Theo nodded at Ryan, who simply nodded back before turning to stare back at the screen.

Mara jumped up to hug me, wanting all the details.

“Can I come to the scan?”

“Uh, I’m not sure how many can go...” I yawned.
