“Are you coming with me?”
Alice shot me a glare, her lips pursed together.
I didn’t care. I needed to fuck her and move on.
“I don’t have a choice,” she said, pushing past me and out into the night.

ALICE
I was shaking, a fire in my belly that threatened to bubble over at any moment. I sat beside Lucas in his limo as he stared straight ahead, as cool as a cucumber.
“I need you to understand something,” Lucas said, and my stomach lurched in response. “I didn’t mean to threaten your family. I understand that was disrespectful of me.”
I scowled at him, and he sighed, extending his hand out to me.
“Forgive me.”
“It’s theonlyreason I’m here,” I said, ignoring his hand. “If you didn’t mean it, you can let me go.”
It’s just sex.
Sex with ascorching hotguy... who said if you didn’t, he would kill your entire family.
Nausea swept over me.
Lucas addressed the driver in a language I was vaguely familiar with as rage seeped out of my mouth.
“I’m not a prostitute.”
Lucas’s green gaze flickered over to me, a wolfish smile on his lips.
“I’m not paying you.”
“But there is a price,” I argued as he studied me.
“You could look at it that way.” Lucas shrugged, charming my rage like a snake.
“I’m sorry, as an alternative to what?”
“Stop asking questions. Your mouth must get you into so much fucking trouble,” Lucas muttered.
I folded my arms.
“Whoareyou, exactly? You’re some sort of gangster, aren’t you?”
His eyes slid over me then as he put a finger to his lips.
“You can call me Mr. Deacon, and I am the CEO of Deacon Enterprises. My father owned the business before me, and now I run it with my brother.”
I didn’t question him further as the limo pulled to a stop.
I frowned when I realized I was home.
“But you said—”
“I know what I said. It was just a test to make sure you have the right values. It’s important to have morals in this day and age.”
