“You asked. I’ve answered,” he said quietly as I dropped my eyes from his.

“Drugs?” I asked bluntly.

“I knew you were intelligent.” He smirked as my stomach twisted.

The only guy to capture my attention for more than five seconds is a fucking drug lord/pimp.

“Charmed,” he murmured as I stared at him in confusion.

Did I say that out loud? His face confirmed that I did.

“The only guy, huh?” he said as he crossed the room to stand in front of me.

My heart thudded in my chest when he crouched down, his green eyes piercing into mine. I couldn’t answer him; my voice had turned to dust in his presence.

He stroked my cheek softly as I winced, his features hardening.

Lucas stood up, holding his hand out for me.

I averted my eyes this time, refusing to make eye contact with anyone on the way out.

Lucas opened the limo door and spoke roughly to his driver. He leaned toward me, picking up my hand as his lips pressed against it.

“If you ever needanything...” Lucas whispered as a lump grew in my throat.

I nodded as he released my hand, stepping back from the car as the limo sped away. Only then did I allow the tears to fall, my mind filled with questions.

Why did he let me leave?

Why didn’t he come with me?

I must’ve dozed off because the next thing I knew, the door was opened, the driver smiling at me kindly.

“Home,” he said in a thick accent. I lifted my eyebrow to him as I asked softly,
